  • Chapter 17 – Access Control Panels and Networks
    Electronic Access Control, 2017
    Co-Authors: Thomas L. Norman
    Abstract:

Access Control Panels perform the heavy lifting in alarm/Access Control systems. Every single function that Access Control systems perform in the real world occurs first in the “mind” of an Access Control Panel. All Access Control Panels share certain attributes and components. Alarm input and output Control components may be internal or external to the basic Access Control Panel. There are a variety of Access Control Panel form factors that can be used in a variety of locations as system needs dictate. In the past a wide variety of different types of wiring schemes and wiring protocols existed, but today most systems use one or two of only a few. Reliability and redundancy issues and how to get the most out of the hardware are discussed at the end of this chapter.

  • automated bike parking system
    2010
    Co-Authors: Perry North
    Abstract:

System, device and method for providing public, high-density bicycle storage and protection from elements and theft. System includes overhead conveyors from which bicycles are hung in a near side/far side arrangement where handlebars of only every other bicycle are aligned. Bicycles are rolled into a loading station on their back wheels by user and secured, from the front wheel, to a hook that is removably coupled to a load hoist. Access to loading station is Controlled by an Access Control Panel. Load hoist lifts the hook to place the bicycle in a hanging position. Robotic arm of a robotic elevator grasps, retracts and lowers (or raises) the bicycle into a multilevel storage area and onto overhead conveyors. Users may be bike-share users or storage users who store the particular bicycle they own.

  • Implementation of RNC Multiplexing Control Panel
    2006
    Co-Authors: Scdma Foru
    Abstract:

Module Access Control Panel is a key composition of Accessing subsystem and service processing subsystem of RNC equipments in TD-SCDMA system. It's responsible for local services exchanging and multiplexing/de -multiplexing of data streams in Accessing module and service processing module, based on ATM. This paper interprets the principle and function implementation of multiplexing Control Panel.

  • Exploring the Windows XP User Interface
Configuring and Troubleshooting Windows XP Professional, 2001
Co-Authors: Brian Barber, Chad Todd, Norris L. Johnson, Robert J. Shimonski, Martin Grasdal
    Abstract:

This chapter discusses the ways of exploring and configuring the desktop settings; changing the desktop theme and background; modifying the appearance of the desktop; configuring and modifying the start menu and taskbar; and configuring “my computer,” “my network places,” and “my documents.” While exploring the desktop settings, one discovers the way of changing one's display options and changing the general appearance of the desktop by using themes and different backgrounds. The use of screen savers and how they can have a practical use with regard to security and being visually appealing is introduced in the chapter. The various ways to Access the desktop settings, along with the use of the command line to Access Control Panel applets by using their .cpl files are explored in the chapter. The start menu is the way by which the majority of users Access their programs, but the taskbar, which can provide a quick and functional way to Access frequently used programs, is explored in the chapter.
