    Abstract:

    The application of the continuous wavelet transform to study of a wide class of physical processes with oscillatory dynamics is restricted by large central frequencies due to the Admissibility condition. We propose an alternative reconstruction formula for the continuous wavelet transform, which is applicable even if the Admissibility condition is violated. The case of the transform with the standard Morlet wavelet, which is an important example of such analyzing functions, is discussed.

  • Admissibility analysis of linear singular systems via a delta operator method

    Abstract:

    In this paper, the problem of Admissibility analysis is investigated for linear singular systems through a delta operator method. The delta operator model of a linear singular continuous system is set up first for a special case and then generalised to the common case. It is shown that when the sampling period tends to zero, the delta operator model tends to the corresponding singular continuous system. In order to obtain the above delta operator model, we adopt a linear singular discrete model which contains the sampling period instead of the standard discrete one which contains no sampling period in the modeling process. The relation between the Admissibility of the two singular discrete models is analysed and it is proved that the Admissibility of one singular discrete model is equivalent to that of the other discrete model.     Abstract:

    This paper investigates the problems of robust Admissibility analysis and robust admissible control for uncertain singular systems through delta operator method. Firstly, a necessary and sufficient LMI-based condition is derived guaranteeing the Admissibility of a linear singular delta operator system. Then, based on the above result, a necessary and sufficient LMI-based condition is obtained for the robust Admissibility of an uncertain singular delta operator system. Furthermore, the existence condition and explicit expression of a state feedback robust admissible controller is also given in terms of matrix inequalities. Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the results in this paper.

    This paper mainly deals with the problems of Admissibility analysis and admissible control for linear singular delta operator systems. By introducing the delta operator into the discrete model of a linear singular continuous system, the delta operator model is set up which tends to the corresponding continuous system when the sampling period tends to zero. Necessary and sufficient Admissibility conditions are proposed for linear singular delta operator systems. Based on these results, the problem of admissible control is also considered and an explicit expression of a desired state feedback controller is given. Finally, examples are provided to demonstrate the results in this paper.

    Abstract:

    Various ways for decision making with imprecise probabilities-Admissibility, maximal expected utility, maximality, E-Admissibility, @C-maximax, @C-maximin, all of which are well known from the literature-are discussed and compared. We generalise a well-known sufficient condition for existence of optimal decisions. A simple numerical example shows how these criteria can work in practice, and demonstrates their differences. Finally, we suggest an efficient approach to calculate optimal decisions under these decision criteria.
