An active real-time database model for Air Traffic Control systems
Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 1998Co-Authors: Ching-sang Peng, Tony P. NgAbstract:The application of Air Traffic Control systems is one of the more complex real-time applications that require timely responses as well as logical and temporal data integrities. An Air Traffic Control system is highly safety-critical. In this paper, we propose a database model for the Air Traffic Control system using the active database scheme to coordinate the interactions among external update transactions, time-triggered transactions and operator transactions. We define the system components, including a time-based trigger manager and a concurrency Control manager with the implementation of semantic-based concurrency Control protocols. The concurrency Control utilizes the compatibility matrix technique with semantic-based operations that can be carefully designed to enhance the temporal correctness in terms of external consistency and data deadlines.

Air Traffic Control: Symposium on Organizational Reform Options - Air Traffic Control: Symposium on Organizational Reform Options
2015Co-Authors: Katherine F TurnbullAbstract:This summary presents key elements from the Air Traffic Control: Symposium on Organizational Reform Options, held in Washington, D.C., on July 7, 2015. Organized by the Transportation Research Board (TRB), the symposium featured a keynote presentation and five panel sessions. The symposium began with a keynote presentation on the impetus for reforming the organizational structure of Air Traffic Control (ATC) in the United States and previous efforts at restructuring. The panel sessions addressed examples of the ATC organizational structures and funding options used in other countries, factors to consider in possible changes in the United States, and stakeholder perspectives.

Performance evaluation of Air Traffic Control system based on analytic hierarchy process
Journal of Computer Applications, 2008Co-Authors: Bai Song-haoAbstract:The performance of Air Traffic Control system was evaluated by using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Firstly, the factors that can affect the performance of Air Traffic Control system were analyzed and Air Traffic Control system's performance guidelines and metrics suitable for the characteristics of China's military and civil aviation were established. Then the relative weight of these guidelines could be obtained by computing the judgment matrix that was constructed by experts. At last, the relative weight to the system performance could be got by recursively using probability multiplication methods. Finally the value of Air Traffic Control system's performance equaled the liner weighted value of product between weights and their corresponding indicators of membership. According to the statistics conducted by the simulation, it is basically the same as the conclusions of experts, which shows it is reasonable to use AHP in the performance evaluation of Air Traffic Control system.

Research on Effectiveness Evaluation of Air Traffic Control System
Computer Engineering, 2011Co-Authors: Pan Wei-junAbstract:The conception and calculation method of Air Traffic Control system effectiveness are defined in this paper, and the evaluation model which can be used in the Air Traffic Control system of China is proposed, then it evaluates the effectiveness of Air Traffic Control system by the expert survey and Improved Analytic Hierarchy Process(I-AHP) methods.Basing on the effectiveness evaluation model and algorithm,it develops the effectiveness evaluation system, and provides the sensitivity analysis of the factors which can affect the performance of system, results proves the validity of the evaluation system.
