It was found that the introduction of bulky fragments containing tetra-coordinated pentavalent phosphorus atoms prevents self-assembly of monosubstituted pillar[5]arenes and the formation of supramolecular polymers. Pillar[5]arenes with phosphonate and 1-Aminophosphonate substituents demonstrated recognition towards Na+, K+, Cs+ and Pb2+. Their ability to form complexes with these cations was evaluated by UV spectroscopy. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) revealed the formation of aggregates with K+, Cs+ and Pb2+. It was established that the substituent at the α-carbon atom of the Aminophosphonate fragment played a significant role in Pb2+ binding. DLS and transmission electron microscopy revealed that Pb2+-induced aggregation formed particles with a monodisperse distribution of 0.02–0.23 and a hydrodynamic diameter of 58–178 nm.

RSC Advances, 2014Co-Authors: Sara Sobhani, Zahra Mesbah Falatooni, Moones HonarmandAbstract:In this paper, supported phosphoric acid on silica coated magnetic nanoparticles (γ-Fe2O3@SiO2-PA) was synthesized as a new solid acid via the reaction of chloro-functionalized γ-Fe2O3@SiO2 with triethyl phosphite followed by hydrolysis. The synthesized γ-Fe2O3@SiO2-PA was characterized by SEM, HRTEM, BET, FT-IR, TGA, ICP and VSM. It was used as a magnetically recyclable heterogeneous catalyst for the efficient one-pot synthesis of α-Aminophosphonates through Kabachnik–Fields reaction in water. Good to high yields of α-Aminophosphonates showed that γ-Fe2O3@SiO2-PA had strong and sufficient acidic sites, which were responsible for its catalytic performance. More importantly, the catalyst was easily isolated from the reaction mixture by a magnetic bar and reused at least five times without significant degradation in the activity.

By this method, aromatic, aliphatic, cyclic and heterocyclic aldehydes, hindered and cage ketones are converted into their corresponding α-Aminophosphonates in good to excellent yields.

The geometric, electronic, and energetic parameters of the coordinated 1,3-azadiene were calculated by nonempirical methods, and factors determining the mode of coordination were established. The obtained π-complexes reacted with dialkyl phosphonates in the presence of triethylamine to afford organometallic α-Aminophosphonates; hydrophosphorylation in the absence of a catalyst gave the corresponding amidophosphate which then underwent rearrangement into α-Aminophosphonate.
