    Abstract:

    Zájem antropologie náboženství se často soustředí na životní postoje a hodnoty praktikantů některého náboženství nebo spirituálního systému a do tohoto kontextu je zasazen také následující text. Diplomová práce se soustředí na fenomén Reiki - původně východní nauku, která se v druhé polovině 20. století rozšířila podobně jako jiné filosoficko-spirituální systémy do Ameriky i Evropy. Kromě spirituální stránky je výrazným prvkem Reiki učení jeho příslušnost k tzv. léčícím systémům a z toho důvodu ho ve své práci nepovažuji pouze za spirituální nauku ale spíše za specifickou spirituální praxi s léčitelským podtextem, která je historicky ukotvená v medicínském prostředí. Při samotném výzkumu tedy vycházím v teoretickém základu nejen z antropologie náboženství, ale uvažuji také v termínech antropologie medicíny a teorie embodimentu. V práci se skrze vysvětlení základních principů snažím ukázat, že svět Reiki praktikantů je do značné míry roztříštěný a vývoj nauky postupně vedl k různým výrazným modifikacím a k současnému stavu, kdy tyto modifikace existují současně a činí jednotnou definici učení velice obtížnou. Perspektiva embodimentu mi zároveň dovoluje více se zabývat samotnou léčitelskou praxí a jejím nejdůležitějším aspektem - tělem, na které nahlížím jako na subjekt, který přímo vstupuje do...The interest of Anthropology of Religion often focuses on the view of life and values of practitioners of a Religion or spiritual system and the following text is put into the same context. This master thesis deals with the Reiki phenomenon - originally eastern spiritual technique that was, just like other similar philosophical-spiritual systems, spread out in America and Europe in the second half of twentieth century. Reiki has another distinct feature, besides spirituality. It is its affiliation to so called healing systems because of which I do not consider it purely spiritual system, but rather specific spiritual praxis with healing aspect that is historically connected with medical environment. I base my theory not only on Anthropology of Religion, but I also think in terms of medical Anthropology and the theory of embodiment. Through explaining of basic Reiki principles, I am showing that the world of Reiki practitioners is to a certain extent divided. The evolution of the teaching led to many significantly different modifications and to current state, where these modifications coexist and make one single definition of the teaching very difficult.     The interest of Anthropology of Religion often focuses on the view of life and values of practitioners of a Religion or spiritual system and the following text is put into the same context. This master thesis deals with the Reiki phenomenon - originally eastern spiritual technique that was, just like other similar philosophical-spiritual systems, spread out in America and Europe in the second half of twentieth century.     This book examines women’s relationship to the Virgin Mary in two different cultural and religious contexts, and compares how these relationships have been analyzed and explained on a theological and a sociological level. The figure of the Virgin Mary is a divisive one in our modern culture. To some, she appears to be a symbol of religious oppression, while to others, she is a constant comfort and even an inspiration towards empowerment. Drawing on the author’s own ethnographic research among Catholic Costa Rican women and Orthodox Finnish women, this study relates their experiences with Mary to the folklore and popular Religion materials present in each culture. The book combines not only different social and religious frameworks but also takes a critical look at ways in which feminists have (mis)interpreted the meaning of Mary for women. It therefore combines theological and ethnographic methods in order to create a feminist Marian theology that is particularly attentive to women’s lived religious practices and theological thinking. This study provides a unique ethnographically informed insight into women’s religious interactions with Mary. As such, it will be of great interest to those researching in religious studies and theology, gender studies, Latin American studies, Anthropology of Religion, and folklore studies

    Proposant une mise en perspective des fondements epistemologiques de l'anthropologie religieuse, l'A. examine les questions suivantes : 1. l'apport de certains aspects de la pensee d'Aristote pour une approche de la Religion ; 2. la signification de la moralite pour l'anthropologie religieuse et la theorie sociale ; 3. la dimension pratique des approches de la moralite et l'apport complementaire d'Aristote et de Roy Rappaport ; 4. l'integration de la dimension morale dans l'interpretation de la pratique. Il suggere qu'une theorie de la pratique se doit de prendre en compte le jugement raisonne, tel que cela a ete developpe dans des interpretations recentes de l'Ethique d'Aristote. Finalement, il soutient qu'il est necessaire d'aller au-dela de la caracterisation et de l'evaluation unique de la raison abstraite par Platon, et qu'il faut, dans les approches contemporaines, conjoindre les dimensions du politique et du pouvoir, mais egalement de la vertu et de la morale.

    AbstractThis article briefly surveys and compares the histories of research in the comparative science of Religion (beginning with Friedrich Max Muller) and the Anthropology of Religion. The article notes the close interactions between these two fields and argues that the comparative science of Religion drew significant inspiration from Anthropology and sociology during the twentieth century until about the 1970s when Anthropology came under heavy fire from critics. The postcolonial, feminist, and postmodern wave did not have a significant impact on the comparative science of Religion until the 1990s. But already during the 1980s a new approach to Religion, championed by Jonathan Z. Smith, contributed to a theoretical and critical analysis of Religion that neither bought into postmodernism nor into the sui generis approach to Religion. During the 1990s, another new approach began making an impact, namely, the cognitive science of Religion, championed by E. Thomas Lawson, Robert N. McCauley (both scholars of Religion), and Pascal Boyer (anthropologist). The article suggests in conclusion that the two disciplines can once again meet in the growing fields of experimental Anthropology and experimental science of Religion and in the need to explore and address how culture affects and rewires the brain. Furthermore, evolutionary theory is also beginning to serve as a common framework for thinking about Religion.
