  • The Relationship Between Skin and Apparent Wellbore Radius in Fractal Drainage Areas
    Mathematics of Planet Earth, 2014
    Co-Authors: Tom Aage Jelmert
    Abstract:

All reservoirs cannot be described by conventional reservoir models. Sometimes power-law trends may result in better predictions. We obtain a generalized relationship between the Apparent Wellbore Radius and skin. The traditional logarithmic relationship is included as a limiting case. The rock properties are characterized by reference values multiplied by single term power-law functions of the spatial variable. The reference length is arbitrary. We recommend use of the Wellbore Radius. Then, the reference permeability may be estimated from core analysis and logs. Power-law models include, but are not restricted to fractal reservoirs. We propose a schematic to explain the generalized relationship between Apparent Wellbore Radius and skin. The Apparent Wellbore Radius may be used to generate well test type curves for negative values of the skin factor.

  • Well test analysis of a dual-permeability triple-medium reservoir
Special Oil & Gas Reservoirs, 2020
    Co-Authors: Yin Hong-jun
    Abstract:

This paper introduces a physical model of reservoir test for triple-medium reservoir of matrix, fractures and cavern with consideration of the connectivity between fractures, cavern and borehole.A mathematical model of Apparent Wellbore Radius is established with consideration of Wellbore storage effect and skin effect, and solved by Laplace transform and numerical inversion. The type curves of dual-permeability triple-medium reservoir testing are drawn. The influence of crossflow factor, storativity ratio and permeability ratio on curve characteristics is discussed. The well test curves of dual-porosity triple-medium reservoir show two steps in semi-log plot and two concaves in log-log plot. The locations and shapes of the steps and concaves are related to the storativity ratio and crossflow factor among matrix, fracture and caverns.Crossflow factor mainly affects the time when the concave section appears;and elastic storativity ratio affects the depth and width of the concave section. The difference of well test curves between dual-permeability triple-medium reservoir and general triple-medium reservoir is compared and analyzed.

  • Applied study of normalized analytical model of production decline for dual-porosity reservoir
Special Oil & Gas Reservoirs, 2020
    Co-Authors: Li Dong-mei
    Abstract:

A production decline model is established for dual-porosity reservoirs with consideration of Apparent Wellbore Radius aiming at the problems of build-up test such as short testing time, small pressure conformance area, and that the interpretation results can't reflect reservoir properties after long-term production. The model is solved, and a new type curve of production decline analysis is constructed.A case interpretation indicates that the result of production decline analysis method is close to that of build-up test, and can better represent production performance. The method can perform pressure test without shut-in and won't affect normal production. This is a very superior interpretation method.

  • Transient pressure calculation for low permeability homogeneous reservoirs
Special Oil & Gas Reservoirs, 2020
    Co-Authors: Li Mei-fang
    Abstract:

In view of the percolation problem in low permeability homogeneous reservoirs,a mathematical model of Apparent Wellbore Radius of low velocity non-Darcy flow is established with consideration of threshold pressure gradient. The calculation formulas of formation pressure and Wellbore pressure are obtained;the transient pressure curves of low velocity non-Darcy flow in homogeneous reservoir are drawn;and the influence of parameters such as threshold pressure gradient, production time and permeability on the pressure curves is discussed. The study shows that the derivative curve no longer has a horizontal straight line section of radial flow, but goes upwards gradually due to the influence of threshold pressure gradient. This characteristic is different from that of the traditional homogeneous reservoirs.Wellbore pressure and reservoir pressure are usually low during production from low permeability reservoir as affected by production time and threshold pressure gradient, and the velocity of formation pressure transmission is slow.
