A Developmental Transcriptome Map for Allotetraploid Arachis hypogaea.
Frontiers in plant science, 2016Co-Authors: Josh Clevenger, Ye Chu, Brian E. Scheffler, Peggy Ozias-akinsAbstract:The advent of the genome sequences of Arachis duranensis and Arachis ipaensis has ushered in a new era for peanut genomics. With the goal of producing a gene atlas for cultivated peanut (Arachis hypogaea), 22 different tissue types and ontogenies that represent the full development of peanut were sequenced, including a complete reproductive series from flower to peg elongation and peg tip immersion in the soil to fully mature seed. Using a genome-guided assembly pipeline, a homeolog-specific transcriptome assembly for Arachis hypogaea was assembled and its accuracy was validated. The assembly was used to annotate 21 developmental co-expression networks as tools for gene discovery. Using a set of 8,816 putative homeologous gene pairs, homeolog expression bias was documented, and although bias was mostly balanced, there were striking differences in expression bias in a tissue-specific context. Over 9,000 alterative splicing events and over 6,000 non coding RNAs were further identified and profiled in a developmental context. Together, this work represents a major new resource for cultivated peanut and will be integrated into peanutbase.org as an available resource for all peanut researchers.

Sorption behavior of Arachis hypogaea shells against Ag^+ ions and assessment of antimicrobial properties of the product
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2020Co-Authors: Paweł Staroń, Krzysztof Pszczółka, Jarosław Chwastowski, Marcin BanachAbstract:The paper presents sorption behavior of Arachis hypogaea shells towards silver ions and possibility of their use as antimicrobial product. During the modification process of the natural sorbent, equilibrium tests were carried out. Moreover, the possibility of obtaining biocomposite Arachis hypogaea shells/nAg has been determined, and its antimicrobial properties have been evaluated. Additionally, sorption kinetics has been calculated. In the last step, silver ions were desorbed. The conducted equilibrium tests allowed to adjust the sorption isotherm model and determine the sorption capacity of tested material. This process is best described by Freudlich’s isotherm, and the sorption capacity is equal to 12.33 mg/g. On the basis of kinetic studies, the chemical nature of this process has been proved (by choosing a pseudo-second order model for the sorption process). It has been confirmed that the obtained peanut shells modified with silver ions have antimicrobial properties. The tests allowed to obtain 100% inhibition of Aspergillus niger and ~ 98% Escherichia coli .

Influence of rhizobium on thegrowth and symbiotic performance of Arachis hypogaea L under the water stress condition
2018Co-Authors: S. Vimala Gandhi, N. Manohar, S. JayashreeAbstract:Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L) is a leguminous plant which is symbiosis with nitrogen fixing bacteria such as Rhizobium. During drought condition such as water stress, the plant is affected both chemically and physiologically. In this present study the Rhizobium was isolated and purified from Arachis hypogaea L in natural conditions and inoculum were stored for further study. The Arachis hypogaea L seeds were cultivated in lab conditions as both control and inoculated with Rhizobium. Both inoculated and control seeds were cultivated for several days by inducing water stress. After the investigated days the morphometric characters, nitrogenase activity and Leghaemoglobin content of both control and inoculated plants were determined in which the inoculated plants showed resistance towards the water stress and yield is high when compared to control plants during water stress.
