The MFCC of the testing data are Transformed by the warped Mel filterbanks to match the models of the training data. The effectiveness of this set of speaker normalization procedures is examined in an experimental study performed using an isolated digit database of man, woman and children comparing to other standard speaker normalization method. The results of experiments demonstrate their capacity to achieve recognition accuracy increase of 19.5% and 16.5% at the best.

The method uses the 2-D Bilinear Transform. The multipliers and delay elements required for the realization equal the maximum number of the numerator or denominator coefficients of the given filter. The matrices A, b, and c/sup t/ and the scalar d of the Givone-Roesser state space model are derived, based on the circuit realization, for first- and second-order all-pass digital filters. >

Improved smoothness priors using Bilinear Transform
Signal Processing, 2020Co-Authors: Arman Kheirati Roonizi, Christian JuttenAbstract:Abstract Smoothness priors is a well-known and most commonly used method in the analysis of stochastic processes making it very useful in the field of stochastic signal processing. It is particularly suited for smoothing the noisy data and detrending the time-series signals. The method is based on an optimization problem where the n-th order derivative of the signal enters as a constraint. When the method is designed in discrete time domain, the backward difference rule is used to perform differential-to-difference conversion. Moreover, the solution depends on a smoothness trade-off parameter. An efficient algorithm for the trade-off parameter selection remains an important and challenging issue. In this paper, first, we propose a closed-form expression for the trade-off parameter. The closed-form expression resulted from a frequency domain interpretation of the smoothness priors procedure. The trade-off parameter determines the amount of frequency components that the procedure allows to pass. We show that the trade-off parameter is related to the arbitrary choice of cutoff frequency. Second, we introduce a new way to the design and implementation of smoothness priors using Bilinear Transformation method. Frequency analysis and experiments on both synthetic and real world signals with different levels of noise demonstrate that Bilinear Transform is indeed more effective for smoothness priors implementation when compared with the traditional ones, i.e., the backward difference rule.

Minimum Order Transfer Function: the Interpolation Approach

HavlenaAbstract:This paper presents an algorithm for obtaining the minimum order MISO transfer function model for the use in a model-based predictive controller. The source model can be either a non-minimal ARX model, a state-space model or any interconnection of linear models of mixed state-space and transfer function representations. The algorithm is based on polynomial interpolation theory, representing polynomials by their values on a set of points in the complex plane. Using this theory, we can find the minimum order from the dimension of the null space of a particular matrix. Finding the minimum order model is equivalent to finding a specific base of the null space. A novel feature of the presented approach is using a set of complex interpolation nodes obtained by mapping the standard set of real Chebyshev nodes by a Bilinear Transform.
