  • Researches on calculation Methods of aquifer influx for gas reservoirs with aquifer support
Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 2019
    Co-Authors: Pengcheng Liu, Ying Jia
    Abstract:

Abstract The existence of aquifers in gas reservoirs has important influences on the development of gas wells. Water will invade into gas reservoirs when formation pressure decreases during the production of a gas well and then change the well production characteristics severely. It is very important to research the aquifer invasion mechanisms and evaluate the aquifer influx for good knowing and exploring the gas reservoir. In this paper, we have conducted three Methods to research the aquifer influx characteristics by evaluating the value of aquifer influx and aquifer influx rate that vary with the production time. Three Methods are the Blasingame Method, the FMB (Flowing Material Balance) Method and the MBE (Material Balance Equation) Method. Based on the Blasingame conventional type-curves, the normalized well production data of a gas well influenced by aquifers can be divided into three influx periods: no-aquifer, early-aquifer and middle-late-aquifer influx period. The no-aquifer influx period production data are used to determine well initial gas in place and as a base, and the early-aquifer influx period production data are used to obtain aquifer influx and aquifer influx rate quantitatively. The novel three Methods presented can elucidate the aquifer influx characteristics clearly and determine aquifer influx rate quantitatively just using well dynamic production data based on the Fetkovich model. Meanwhile, a simple numerical simulation model was built to verify the three Methods, which shows that these three Methods are reliable and really have strong practicability in developing gas field reservoirs with aquifer support.

  • Quantitative evaluation Method of OOIP and aquifer size for fractured-caved carbonate reservoirs with active aquifer support
    SCIENTIA SINICA Technologica, 2017
Co-Authors: Li Yong, Qingyan Yu, Baozhu Li, Lixin Chen
    Abstract:

Fractured-caved carbonate reservoirs have the characteristic of strong heterogeneity, poor connectivity and complicated oil-water relationship, these reservoirs generally contain edge-bottom aquifer support and has non-uniform oil-water contact. Because of wrong estimation of the well original oil in place, well drilling success ratio is generally low and the development performance is also poor. How to quantitatively evaluate this kind of reservoirs’ reserves and aquifer size by dynamic Methods, which can provide support to the following new well drilling and development strategy decision, is the key problem need to solve. Based on the Blasingame Method and flowing material balance Method, this paper derives the dynamic reserves evaluation theory for reservoirs with pseudo-steady state water-drive and proposes a process and Method according to aquifer influx identification to quantitatively evaluate dynamic reserves and aquifer size. This Method firstly uses aquifer influx dynamic identification Method to divide well production history into three periods: no aquifer influx period, early aquifer influx period and middle-late aquifer influx period. Then the dynamic reserves can be evaluated according to matching well production data of no aquifer influx period, and then the aquifer size can be quantitatively evaluated by means of matching well production data of early aquifer influx period. What’s more, the established numerical simulation conceptual model with edge and bottom aquifer support verifies that the Method is reliable. This Method has been widely used in a fractured-caved carbonate oil field in China, the application is good.

  • Research on Method of Gas Well Production Analysis in Edge-Water Gas Reservoir
2011 International Conference on Computational and Information Sciences, 2011
    Co-Authors: Yonggang Duan, Chungang Shuai
    Abstract:

Gas well production analysis is a Method that can calculate formation parameters like permeability, skin factor, half length of fracture, single well controlled radius and single well controlled reserves through fitting and analyzing towards daily production data and decline type curves. Now, this analysis Method that has been common used is mainly Arps[1], Fetkovich[2], Blasingame[3], Agarwal-Garder(AG)[4], Normalized Pressure Integral (N.P.I)[5] and FMB[6]. Among them, Blasingame Method considers material balance pseudotime and pseudopressure that make the analysis results more accurate. This paper takes Method of Blasingame production analysis in edge-water gas reservoirs as the main object of research. It starts from building the model of two phase seepage of gas-water in this kind of reservoir. By calculating, it obtains solution of the model above. On this basis, programming in C language and applying Stehfest[7] Method to inverse the solution of the equation in Laplace space. And then, it gets a series of data of dimensionless time and its corresponding dimensionless production in the real space. Further, it deals with these data in Excel. Finally, it obtains the Blasingame type curves of gas-water co-production well in this reservoir. This paper provides a theoretical basis to production analysis of edge-water gas reservoir.
