Additional evidence and new records of the genus Bracon Fabricius,1804 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) in southern Iran

A total of 10 species belonging to 6 subgenera were collected and identified, of which 2 subgenera (OphthalmoBracon Tobias, 1957, and OsculoBracon) and 6 species are recorded for the first time from Iran. The newly recorded species from Iran are as follows: Bracon (GlabroBracon) ahngeri Telenga, 1936; Bracon (HabroBracon) didemie (Beyarslan, 2002); Bracon (OphthalmoBracon) ophthalmicus Telenga, 1933; Bracon (OsculoBracon) erzurumiensis Beyarslan, 2002; Bracon (OsculoBracon) osculator Nees 1811; and Bracon (GlabroBracon) obscurator Nees, 1811. Geographical distributions of all species and diagnostic characters of the newly recorded species from Iran are provided.

Study of the genus Bracon Fabricius, 1804 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) of Southern Iran with description of a new species.

In all, 19 species belonging to seven subgenera were collected and identified, of which seven species and the subgenus AsiaBracon Tobias, 1957 are recorded for first time from Iran. Bracon ( OrthoBracon ) persiangulfensis Ameri, Beyarslan & Talebi sp. n. is newly described and illustrated from the Queshm island of Persian Gulf. Morphological characters of the new species were compared with the congeneric species. The newly recorded species from Iran were as follow: B. ( AsiaBracon ) quardrimaculatus Telenga, 1936; B. ( Bracon ) kozak Telenga, 1936; B. ( GlabroBracon ) immutator Nees; B. ( HabroBracon ) telengai (Mulyarskaya, 1955); B. ( HabroBracon ) variegator Spinola, 1808; B. ( OrthoBracon ) epitriptus Marshall, 1885 and B. ( OrthoBracon ) exhilarator Nees, 1834. A key is presented for identification of Bracon species collected in Hormozgan province as well as an updated checklist of all Bracon species occurring in Iran.

Thirty-two species are reported as new to Turkey, and new distributional data is added for almost all species.

Important morphological diagnostic characters are figured and they are compared with the related species, B.(L.) triangularis Nees, 1834 and B. (L.) brachycerus Thomson, 1892 respectively.

A synopsis of Bracon species of Turkey with description of a new species (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Braconinae)
Biologia, 2010Co-Authors: Ahmet Beyarslan, Özlem Çetin Erdoğan, Mitat AydogduAbstract:Our studies on Bracon F. fauna of Turkey started in 1979 and 107 species have been determined so far belonging to the subgenera HabroBracon Ashmead, AsiaBracon Tobias, RostroBracon Tobias, Bracon Fahringer, CyanopteroBracon Tobias, GlabroBracon Fahringer and LucoBracon Fahringer. Thirteen new Bracon species were published from Turkey. With this present study Bracon (LucoBracon) achterbergi Beyarslan sp. n. is described and its diagnostic characters are illustrated. The distribution of Bracon species are discussed according to the Euxin, Subeuxin, Mediterranean, Xeroeuxin, Iran Steppe, Anatolia Steppe, Central Anatolia Steppe and Mesopotamian Steppe phytogeographical provinces of Turkey.

Study of the genus Bracon Fabricius, 1804 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) from Iran: new subspecies, new records and an updated checklist.

In total, 35 species including one subspecies were collected and identified, of which 10 species are recorded for the first time from Iran and Bracon (OsculoBracon) pelliger rumezensis Samartsev Zargar ssp. n. is described. In addition, 24 species are recorded for the first time from Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran. Brief diagnoses with illustrations for new records from Iran and a faunistic list with distribution data are provided.

Reclassification of Some Bracon Species (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Braconinae) Described by Ch. Granger and G. Szépligeti from Madagascar

Szepligeti in the genus Bracon are reclassified. A new genus, GrangerBracon gen. nov. (Braconidae: Braconinae) with the type species Bracon quinqueareolatus Granger, 1949, is described and illustrated. Bracon biareolatus Granger, 1949 and B. madagascariensis Szepligeti, 1913 are assigned to the genus Sculptolobus Yang, van Achterberg et Chen, 2008. Bracon griseopubescens Granger, 1949 is attributed to the subgenus AsiaBracon Tobias, 1957. The lectotype for Bracon quinqueareolatus Granger is designated. All the listed species are redescribed, illustrated and their position is discussed.

Belokobylskij, Andrea LucchiAbstract:The Bracon Fabricius, 1804 species, B. admotus Papp, 2000, and three species of the genus HabroBracon Ashmead, 1895, H. concolorans (Marshall, 1900), H. hebetor (Say, 1836) and H. pillerianae Fischer, 1980, were obtained from the larvae of Lobesia botrana (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae) living on Daphne gnidium Linnaeus, 1753 (Thymelaeaceae) in the natural reserve of Migliarino-San Rossore- Massaciuccoli (Pisa - Central Italy). Bracon admotus, HabroBracon concolorans and H. pillerianae were found for the first time to be associated with L. botrana, while H. hebetor was reared for the first time from the larvae of Cryptoblabes gnidiella (Milliere, 1867) (Lepidoptera, Pyralidae, Phycitinae). Bracon admotus and H. pillerianae are new fauna to Italy and Western Europe. A key is proposed for the determination of HabroBracon species reared from L. botrana and related Palaearctic species of this genus. Bracon (HabroBracon) lineatellae Fisher, 1968 is considered as a valid species
