SLOW DEEP PURSED-LIPS Breathing Exercise ON VITAL LUNG CAPACITY IN POST-EXTUBATION PATIENTS IN THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

Provision of respiratory assistance with mechanical ventilation is provided with an indication of the inability of the respiratory function for optimal alveolar ventilation. Efforts to restore lung oxygenation ventilation function can be done through Breathing Exercises and are expected to improve pulmonary ventilation function. Objective: This study was to examine the effectiveness of the modified Slow Deep Pursed-Lips Breathing Exercise (SDPLBE) on vital lung capacity in patients post-extubation of mechanical ventilators. Methods: This was a true experimental study with pretest posttest control group design. Thirty respondents were selected using stratified random sampling, with 15 samples assigned in the experiment and control group. Peak flow meter was used to measure vital lung capacity (FEV1 value). Repeated measures ANOVA was used for data analysis. Results: There was a significant difference on respondent's vital lung capacity after given slow deep pursed lips-Breathing Exercise at each session from session 1 to session 8 (p=0.000). However both groups were not yet able to achieve ≥ 400 mL / min, but the experiment group was closer to the normal value (369) than the control group. Conclusion: Slow Deep Pursed-Lips Breathing Exercise may increase vital lung capacity in patients post-extubation of mechanical ventilator.

COPD cause varying degrees of disturbance include cough, chest pain, and shortness of breath, edema, changes inBreathing patterns, and changes in posture. The main factor of risk of COPD is cigarette smoke or smoke. Modalities of physic therapy can reduce interference from chest pain with Exercise therapy in the form of Breathing Exercise. To improve ventilation and improve respiratory muscle work -respiratory muscle training is carried Exercise. Pursed lip Breathing therapy will reduce muscle spasm Breathing, clear the airway, relieve respiratory tract. Based on the analysis of data on the effect of pursed lip Breathing Exercise to decreased levels of breathlessness using Wilcoxon test control group P=0.014, group P=0.002, indicating that the control and treatment groups equally - the same effect of reducing the level of asphyxiation but more good treatment group as more significant. While the results of the data analysis results obtained using the Mann Whitney Rank 12.60 Mean control group and the treatment group Mean Rank of 18.40 with a value P <0.043, which means there are different effect between the control group and the treatment group. The conclusions of this study are no influence of the control group and the treatment group to reduce shortness of breath but better treatment group.

Journal of Medical Internet Research, 2019Co-Authors: Amit Baumel, Frederick Muench, Stav Edan, John M KaneAbstract:BACKGROUND: Understanding patterns of real-world usage of mental health apps is key to maximizing their potential to increase public self-management of care. Although developer-led studies have published results on the use of mental health apps in real-world settings, no study yet has systematically examined usage patterns of a large sample of mental health apps relying on independently collected data. OBJECTIVE: Our aim is to present real-world objective data on user engagement with popular mental health apps. METHODS: A systematic engine search was conducted using Google Play to identify Android apps with 10,000 installs or more targeting anxiety, depression, or emotional well-being. Coding of apps included primary incorporated techniques and mental health focus. Behavioral data on real-world usage were obtained from a panel that provides aggregated nonpersonal information on user engagement with mobile apps. RESULTS: In total, 93 apps met the inclusion criteria (installs: median 100,000, IQR 90,000). The median percentage of daily active users (open rate) was 4.0% (IQR 4.7%) with a difference between trackers (median 6.3%, IQR 10.2%) and peer-support apps (median 17.0%) versus Breathing Exercise apps (median 1.6%, IQR 1.6%; all z≥3.42, all P<.001). Among active users, daily minutes of use were significantly higher for mindfulness/meditation (median 21.47, IQR 15.00) and peer support (median 35.08, n=2) apps than for apps incorporating other techniques (tracker, Breathing Exercise, psychoeducation: medians range 3.53-8.32; all z≥2.11, all P<.05). The medians of app 15-day and 30-day retention rates were 3.9% (IQR 10.3%) and 3.3% (IQR 6.2%), respectively. On day 30, peer support (median 8.9%, n=2), mindfulness/meditation (median 4.7%, IQR 6.2%), and tracker apps (median 6.1%, IQR 20.4%) had significantly higher retention rates than Breathing Exercise apps (median 0.0%, IQR 0.0%; all z≥2.18, all P≤.04). The pattern of daily use presented a descriptive peak toward the evening for apps incorporating most techniques (tracker, psychoeducation, and peer support) except mindfulness/meditation, which exhibited two peaks (morning and night). CONCLUSIONS: Although the number of app installs and daily active minutes of use may seem high, only a small portion of users actually used the apps for a long period of time. More studies using different datasets are needed to understand this phenomenon and the ways in which users self-manage their condition in real-world settings.

EFEKTIFITAS LATIHAN SLOW DEEP Breathing DAN PEMBERIAN AROMATERAPI KENANGA (Cananga odorata) TERHADAP PENURUNAN TEKANAN DARAH PADA PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI PUSKESMAS KARANGDORO

One of the risk factor causing hypertension is stress that lead to increasing in blood pressure. Non pharmacological management toward patient with hypertension to decrease blood pressure are slow deep Breathing Exercise and cananga aromatherapy. The purpose of this research is to analyze effectiveness between slow deep Breathing Exercise and cananga aromatherapyin decreasing blood pressure to patient with hypertension in Puskesmas Karangdoro. This study use quay experiment design with pretest-posttest, there are 30 respondents as sample divided into 2 groups, 15 respondents of slow deep Breathing Exercise group and 15 respondents of cananga aromatherapy group. Statistical test result of slow deep Breathing Exercise effect decreasing blood pressure (p value=0,000) and also cananga aromatherapy effect to decrease blood pressure (p value=0,000). There is difference in effectiveness of slow deep Breathing Exercise and cananga aromatherapy in decreasing blood pressure. Cananga aromatherapy more effective in decreasing blood pressure consist of systolic, diastolic and MAP rather than slow deep Breathing Exercise with mean rank of decreasing in blood pressure around 4,66 mmHg – 4,71 mmHg. Recommendation from the research that nurses use and teach patient with hypertension to do the slow deep Breathing Exercise and cananga aromatherapy as independent intervention to decrease blood pressure. Dengan adanya infeksi dapat menimbulkan respon inflamasi seperti sesak napas, batuk, dan produksi sputum yang meningkat. Breathing Exercise menjadi salah satu modalitas fisioterapi dalam menangani kasus-kasus kardiorespirasi, dan kombinasi latihan berupa pursed lip Breathing dan diaphragmatic breating breating diperkirakan mampu mengurangi sesak sehingga pasien mampu beraktivitas secara optimal. Muncul pertanyaan pertanyaan klinis, “Apakah pemberian pursed lip Breathing dan diaphragmatic Breathing dapat memberikan efek yang lebih baik untuk menurunkan sesak pada pasien bronkiektasis et causa post tuberculosis paru?” Ilustrasi kepustakaan enggunakan instrument pencarian Pubmed, Science Direct, dan Chocrane Library sesuai dengan kata kunci.
