syntheses structures and magnetic properties of the dicyanamide dca polynuclear Compounds mn ac terpy μ1 5 dca n mn pdz 2 μ1 5 dca 2 n and mn dca terpy meoh 2 μ terephthalate
2002Co-Authors: Albert Escuer, Franz A Mautner, Nuria Sanz, Ramon VicenteAbstract:Abstract Dicyanamide, (dca, N(CN) 2 − ) is found to form, as bridging ligand, two Compounds of formula [Mn(ac)(terpy)(μ 1,5 -dca)] n ( 1 ) and [Mn(pdz) 2 (μ 1,5 -dca) 2 ] n ( 2 ) (ac=acetate; terpy=2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine; pdz=pyridazine). The X-ray diffraction analysis reveals one-dimensional systems, with single dca bridges the Compound 1 and double dca bridges the Compound 2 . The manganese atom in 1 is heptacoordinated, with a MnN 5 O 2 pentagonal bipyramid environment, whereas in 2 the manganese atom is hexacoordinated. The susceptibility measurements of 1 and 2 indicate slight antiferromagnetic coupling. In an attempt to obtain a double chain with terephthalate and dicyanamide bridges, the dinuclear terephthalate Bridged Compound [{Mn(dca)(terpy)(MeOH)} 2 (μ-terephthalate)] ( 3 ) was obtained. The manganese atom in 3 is heptacoordinated, with a MnN 4 O 3 pentagonal bipyramid environment. The susceptibility measurements of 3 indicate also slight antiferromagnetic coupling.

structure and magnetic behavior of a new 1 d Compound with simultaneous end on azido and carboxylato bridges unexpected strong ferromagnetic coupling for a cu n cu bond angle of 111 9 degrees as a consequence of ligand homos countercomplementarity
1997Co-Authors: Albert Escuer, Franz A Mautner, Ramon Vicente, Mohamed A S GoherAbstract:The X-ray structure of the μ-carboxylate−μ1,1-azido-Bridged Compound {[Cu(Hpht)(N3)]·H2O}n has been determined (Hpht = hydrogen phthalate). Crystal data: formula C8H7CuN3O5, monoclinic, P21/m (No. 11), a = 7.383(3) A, b = 6.568(4) A, c = 10.659(4) A, β = 93.38(3)°, Z = 2. The Compound is found to be a system formed by chains of copper atoms Bridged simultaneously by syn−syn carboxylato and end-on azido bridges. The copper chains are linked by a second carboxylato bridge, giving a 2-D Compound. Magnetic measurements indicate strong ferromagnetic coupling, which affords a good example of unexpected magnetic properties due to the countercomplementarity of the superexchange pathways of the two ligands.

magnetic properties and dmrg modeling of the 1d bimetallic thiocyanate Bridged Compound cul1 co ncs 4 l1 n rac 5 12 me2 14 4 11 dienen4
2009Co-Authors: P Sobczak, Artur Barasinski, A Drzewinski, G Kamieniarz, Julia Klak, Alina Bienko, Jerzy MrozinskiAbstract:Abstract The magnetic properties of the bimetallic Compound {(CuL1)[Co(NCS)4]}, where L1 = N-rac-5,12-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca-4,11-diene have been numerically analysed on the basis of the anisotropic Heisenberg spin-chain model. In the model the single-ion anisotropy of the Co(II) ions is taken into account and the interchain interactions are neglected. The thermodynamic properties are calculated using the DMRG technique adapted to the molecular-based chains for the first time which is reliable in the entire temperature region. The high accuracy results of our simulations have been successfully fitted to the corresponding experimental susceptibility and magnetization data measured for the powder sample and the model parameters (the exchange coupling J, the absolute value of the anisotropy constant D, the anisotropic g factors) have been estimated. The quantum model parameters are consistent with the previous findings, although the ferromagnetic interactions between Cu(II) and Co(II) ions through the thiocyanate bridge are somewhat weaker (J/kB = 1.0 ± 0.1) than found before.

crystal structure and magnetic properties of the 1d bimetallic thiocyanate Bridged Compound cul1 co ncs 4 l1 n rac 5 12 me2 14 4 11 dienen4
2008Co-Authors: Jerzy Mrozinski, Julia Klak, Rafal KruszynskiAbstract:Abstract The synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties are reported for the new bimetallic Compound {(CuL1)[Co(NCS)4]} where L1 = N-rac-5,12-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca-4,11-diene. The complex forms a one-dimensional zig-zag coordination polymer along the crystallographic c axis, with Co(II) and Cu(II) ions connected via thiocyanate bridges. The Co(II) centre in the [Co(NCS)4] fragment approximates a distorted tetrahedral symmetry. The Cu(II) geometry is a distorted tetragonal bipyramid with the apical position occupied by the bridging thiocyanate ligand and the basal ones by the four nitrogen atoms from the macrocyclic ring. The polymer chain nearest Cu(1)⋯Co(1) distances are 6.4152(9) and 6.0988(9) A and the nearest Cu(1)⋯Co(1) interchain distances are 6.8609(9), 6.9628(9) and 6.0336(10) A. The magnetization measurements for the examined Compound have been carried out over the range 1.8–300 K. This data suggest ferromagnetic interactions through the thiocyanate bridge.
