    Abstract:

    Changes in projects are common and may be deleterious or beneficial—whether you see a Change as a conflict or a valuable lesson depends only on your prospective. Project Changes affect the cost, the scheduling, and the duration of projects, both directly and indirectly. Despite many articles and much discussion in practice and academic literature, there is a lack of information about systematic approaches to manage project Change. This paper introduces a comprehensive project Change Management system that is founded on five principles: (1) promote a balanced Change culture; (2) recognize Change; (3) evaluate Change; (4) implement Change; and (5) continuously improve from lessons learned. By applying this project Change Management system, project participants can minimize deleterious Change and promote beneficial Change.

In our work, we focus on issues related to ontology Change Management in a local context, particularly on consistency maintenance and we present in this paper, a pattern-oriented ontology Change Management approach. The modelled patterns correspond to the three dimensions Change, inconsistency and resolution alternative. Based on these patterns and the links between them, we propose an automated process guiding and controlling Change application while maintaining consistency of the evolved ontology. Change Management depends closely on the ontology representation model, we focus on OWL language and we consider Change impact on logical consistency as specified in OWL DL layer.

    Abstract:

    As software Changes is essential activity of software life cycle and hence to manage it is a vital and ambiguous task. In this paper we want to suggest a model of software Change Management which can focuses that Change Management was relevant not only in the maintenance phase, but also in the development phase of the software life cycle. The defined model does not treat software Change as a post-delivery activity. With the aid of the proposed model it will be possible, in a structured way, to analyze an organization to see how well it performs on each of the specific functions of Change Management. The model can also be used to design tools or plan methods for Change Management to even to teach its concepts in a gradual and structured way. We discuss general principles for structuring the model into key areas and features and apply them to Change Management Functions. Furthermore, we discuss about the other various models available for the Change Management process. The ultimate goal of this work is to promote a better understanding of the process of Change Management.

    Software Change Management is an essential discipline for enterprise IT organizations. In modern enterprises, software automates a wide variety of business processes. Changes made to software are, in effect, Changes made to the business processes themselves. While the majority of enterprises have implemented basic software Change Management processes, these processes fall down in the face of the increased complexity of today’s business and IT environments. Truly effective and efficient software Change Management will require better coordination of Change across geographic, organizational, functional, and technological arena of IT implemented organization. This paper presents a classification of the Change Management problems derived from the literature study done. This study explores software Change Management — the definition and implementation of defined processes to control Changes made to software. It also addresses the specific problems in the Change Management of application software development.
