    This research aims to examine the hypothetical assumption that music and its stimulative effect may increase typing speed for postprandial Clerical Workers. Past studies in postprandial somnolence generally focused on factors such as effects of food intake or biological clock on postprandial somnolence. However, there is a lack of research on the effect of music on typing speed for postprandial Clerical Workers. This study employed 50 Clerical Workers in two groups of twenty-five. They were exposed to three different environments; no music, slow music and fast music. The results and their answers in the questionnaire were recorded. 28 participants out of the 50 were then selected for further research as they displayed significant expression of postprandial sleepiness. The study also covered the possible disparity of effects on music exposure with or without headphones. Group 1 was exposed to music with the use of headphones whereas Group 2 was exposed to music without the use of headphones. Typing efficiency in the span of 120 seconds and questionnaire data were gathered and analysed with the use of SPANOVA, repeated measured ANOVA and Likert scale. The resulting outcome showed substantial influence of music, regardless of fast or slow paced, on the typing efficiency of the participants. Fast music induced more accuracy in the participants, however it is also of note that the participants who were exposed to fast music with the use of headphones scored better than the participants who were exposed to the same music without the use of headphones. An interesting observation remains, that participants who were exposed to slow music however, were able to type more words. This study proves that music helps to stimulate better performance and efficiency for postprandial Clerical Workers.

No salient factor emerged in men, while in women, after controlling for current socio-demographic characteristics, a relation was found between obesity and the following factors: father’s occupation (OR ¼ 3.2 for women whose father was a Clerical Worker, versus those whose father was in a higher-level occupation); experience of economic hardship in childhood (OR ¼ 2.0), and; high parity (OR ¼ 2.1 for parities of more than 3 versus parity of 1). Neither early family history nor mother’s working status surfaced as significant factors. Those findings highlight a definite gender pattern, with a strong association between early disadvantage and obesity in women, but not in men. Potential mechanisms are discussed, particularly the ‘‘habitus’’, the ‘‘thrifty phenotype’’ and the ‘‘feast–famine’’ hypotheses, and possible interactions with childbearing and motherhood.     Background. Scombrotoxinism is an acute toxin-induced illness caused primarily by bacterial synthesis of histamine in decomposed fish. Case Report. Immediately after taking 2-3 bites of cooked salmon, a Clerical Worker developed oral burning, urticaria, and asthma. In the emergency department, she was diagnosed with “allergies”; scombrotoxinism was never considered. She then developed wide-ranging symptoms (e.g., chronic fatigue, asthma, anxiety, multiple chemical sensitivity, and paresthesiae) and saw many specialists (in pulmonology, otorhinolaryngology, allergy, toxicology, neurology, psychology, and immunology). During the next 500+ days, she had extensive testing (allergy screens, brain MRI, electroencephalogram, electromyogram, nerve conduction velocity, heavy metal screen, and blood chemistry) with essentially normal results. She filed a Workers’ compensation claim since this injury occurred following a business meal. She was evaluated by a Qualified Medical Evaluator (GL) on day 504, who diagnosed scombrotoxinism. Comment. Scombrotoxinism should be considered in all patients presenting to the emergency department with “oral burning” or allergy symptoms following “fish consumption.” Initial attention to such history would have led to a correct diagnosis and averted this patient’s extended illness. Specialist referrals and tests should be ordered only if clinically indicated and not for diagnostic fishing expedition. Meticulous history is crucial in resolving clinical dilemmas
