    Abstract:

    In recent years, the rapid development of mobile network and device promotes the investigation of mobile thin Client Technology. Based on the analysis of our previous work which is hybrid remote display protocol (HRDP), we aware of the importance of QoE guarantee in the system. we conduct a series of experiments to explore the QoE model in HRDP when different user service requirement comes. The standard error of parameters in the QoE model showed that the estimated function fits the data's changing well. In future, we will apply the QoE model back to the HRDP to further improve its performance.

    Abstract:

    Nowadays, using mobile devices is enjoying a boom, that is required a tremendous services supported from mobile cloud. From movie and music entertainment to games, multimedia applications play an everyday role in mobile cloud. With mobile thin Client technologies, limited resource mobile devices can utilize resources from powerful servers to run high performance applications. However, those remote control platforms have limited or not support quality of service or multi-connections at all multimedia applications (such as watching high quality movies, play {3D} games). In this paper, we propose a remote control model that integrated audio/video ({A/V)} isolation Technology aim to support separating multi-{A/V} sessions and enhance the quality of multimedia applications. The results of our implementation show that our approach has efficiencies in {CPU} load, memory and network bandwidth usage.

Based on the surveys in this field, we found that the codec used in the thin Client protocol should be able to provide efficient data compression (to reduce network bandwidth consumption), and operate with low computing complexity (to decrease response latency and thin Client power consumption). In this paper, we proposed a hybrid remote display protocol for mobile thin Client, together with the main results of performance study.

    The Remote Didactic Laboratory Laboratorio Didattico Remoto -LA.DI.RE. “G. Savastano” is an e-learning measurement laboratory supported by the Italian Ministry of Education and University. It provides the students of electric and electronic measurement courses with access to remote measurement laboratories, delivering different didactic activities related to measurement experiments. The core of the software architecture is the integration of the Learning Management System (LMS) with the remotely accessible measurement laboratories through web services and thin Client paradigm, providing a new approach to remote experiments on measurement instrumentation. The overview of this paper is on the different solutions concerning the thin Client Technology, and the solution implemented is described. This solution takes into account the delivered services to students and teachers and permits optimization of the communication performances. The results of the comparison among the performances of different implementations of the thin Client paradigm highlight the advantages of the adopted solution. As a consequence, the description of the thin Client protocol implemented, together with the presentation of the LMS and delivered services given in a previous paper, makes an exhaustive analysis of the software architecture of the LA.DI.RE. “G. Savastano.”
