  • Clinical Engineering in Mexico
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992
Co-Authors: L. Fernando Borjon, Fabian Armendariz, Ruth E. Mayagoitia, Monica Perez-bravo
    Abstract:

Clinical Engineering (CE) activities in Mexico have been done in national research institutes as well as private hospitals. This paper describes the conditions found in Mexico for the professional practice of a Clinical Engineer. It also deals with the description of the activities done by this professional in the Private health care sectors. A cost-effectiveness structure for a CE department is proposed.

  • Clinical Engineering In Third Level Hospitals In Mexico
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991, 1
    Co-Authors: C.c. Alanis, A.v. Berumen
    Abstract:

In this paper we present the development of Clinical Engineering in three different private hospitals in Mexico City, from 1988 until 1991. The Infantil Privado Hospital didn't have a Clinical Engineer as part of its staff. After knowing the work developed in 1988, a new Clinical Engineering Departament was created. In the American British Cowdray Hospital the need for a Clinical Engineer is demostrated in 1989 without reaching practical results, nevertheless the creation of a Clinical Engineering Devartament is considered a real

  • Instrumentation In The Clinical Engineering Curriculum
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991, 1
    Co-Authors: Cedric F. Walker
    Abstract:

Expertise in electronic instrumentation is the core of a Clinical Engineer’s technical training. Because he must often serve as a resource for the staff members working under him, both the depth and currency of his Engineering knowledge are critically important. Furthermore, in his management role, the Clinical Engineer must be able to assess subtle differences between competing technical proposals.
