UCC - Cloud Deployment Model Selection Assessment for SMEs: Renting or Buying a Cloud
2012 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Utility and Cloud Computing, 2012Co-Authors: Jacky Keung, Fanny KwokAbstract:Cloud computing technology is increasingly important in the industry with the promise of increased performance, dynamic resource allocation capabilities and provides a convincing opportunity for organizations to outsource their IT infrastructure under the pay-per-use Model offered by many public Cloud providers. But there are concerns when selecting between the private Cloud and the public Cloud that must be taken into account. Many SME enterprises with scarce in-house IT support and limited knowledge about different Cloud technologies encounter difficulties in making the most appropriate choice on 'buying' a private Cloud or 'renting' a public Cloud service. Through a number of interviews with potential Cloud adopters from the industry, this paper identifies the most relevant factors concerning Cloud adoption and develops a Cloud Deployment Model assessment method called Cloud Deployment Selection Model (CDSM). The Model has been validated in real case studies, and recommendations derived have been compared with real adoption cases. Result shows it is able to accurately recommend a suitable Cloud Deployment Model based on the factors identified from many SME organizations, an important tool for SMEs to decide between the private or the public Cloud solution.

private Cloud Deployment Model in open source mobile robots ecosystem
Conference Towards Autonomous Robotic Systems, 2016Co-Authors: Petri Oksa, Pekka LoulaAbstract:The focus of this paper is on secure Cloud service platform for mobile robots ecosystem. Especially the emphasis is based on the scope of open-source software frameworks such as Apache Hadoop which offers numerous possibilities to employ open-source designing tools and Deployment Models for private Cloud computing planning. This paper presents implementation of the OpenCRP (Open CloudRobotic Platform) locally-operated private Cloud infrastructure and configuration methods by using Hadoop distributed file system (HDFS) for easing the ecosystem communications set-up in its entirety. For robot teleoperation, ROS (Robot Operating System) is used. The presented ecosystem utilizes security features for autonomous Cloud robotic platform, software tools to manage user authentication and methods for large-scale robot-based data management and analysis. In addition to robot trial set-up of robot data storage and sharing, an ecosystem built with two low-cost mobile robots is presented.

Importance of Cloud Deployment Model and Security Issues of Software as a Service (SaaS) for Cloud Computing
2019 International Conference on Applied Machine Learning (ICAML), 2019Co-Authors: Itisha Nowrin, Fahima KhanamAbstract:Cloud computing, now-a-days has become the jargon in the industry of IT. It is a Model that gives worldwide access to shared pools of configurable resources over the internet. That means it run several applications or programs at the same time on more than one computer. The nature and usage of the Cloud computing are developing rapidly both virtually and in reality. It is making things easier for the user of internet by many of its attractive features but these features, have not just only challenged the existing security system, but have also revealed new security issues. In this paper the Deployment of Cloud Models are discussed . The Cloud Models are deployed as public Cloud, private Cloud and hybrid Cloud. Each of these Models have their own advantages and disadvantages. Cloud also provides some services like software as a service (SaaS), Platform as a service (PaaS), Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) . This paper is an insightful analysis of the features as well as the securities challenges of Software as a Service (SaaS) for Cloud computing.
