  • Secure and privacy-preserving data sharing in the cloud based on lossless image coding
    Signal Processing, 2018
Co-Authors: Fouad Khelifi, Tahar Brahimi, Xuelong Li
    Abstract:

Abstract Image and video processing in the encrypted domain has recently emerged as a promising research area to tackle privacy-related data processing issues. In particular, reversible data hiding in the encrypted domain has been suggested as a solution to store and manage digital images securely in the cloud while preserving their confidentiality. However, although efficiency has been claimed with reversible data hiding techniques in encrypted images (RDHEI), reported results show that the cloud service provider cannot add more than 1 bit per pixel (bpp) of additional data to manage stored images. This paper highlights the weakness of RDHEI as a suggested approach for secure and privacy-preserving cloud computing. In particular, we propose a new, simple, and efficient approach that offers the same level of data security and confidentiality in the cloud without the process of reversible data hiding. The proposed idea is to compress the image via a lossless image coder in order to create space before encryption. This space is then filled with a randomly generated sequence and combined with an encrypted version of the compressed bit stream to form a full resolution encrypted image in the pixel domain. The cloud service provider uses the created room in the encrypted image to add additional data and produces an encrypted image containing additional data in a similar fashion. Assessed with the lossless Embedded Block Coding with Optimized Truncation (EBCOT) algorithm on natural images, the proposed scheme has been shown to exceed the capacity of 3 bpp of additional data while maintaining data security and confidentiality.

  • enhanced grey risk assessment model for support of cloud service provider
    IEEE Access, 2020
Co-Authors: Abdul Razaque, Fathi Amsaad, Salim Hariri, Marwah Almasri, Syed S Rizvi, Mohamed Ben Haj Frej
    Abstract:

The cloud computing environment provides easy-to-access service for private and confidential data. However, there are many threats to the leakage of private data. This paper focuses on investigating the vulnerabilities of cloud service providers (CSPs) from three risk aspects: management risks, law risks, and technology risks. Additionally, this paper presents a risk assessment model that is based on grey system theory (GST), defines indicators for assessment, and fully utilizes the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Furthermore, we use the GST to predict the risk values by using the MATLAB platform. The GST determines the bottom evaluation sequence, while the AHP calculates the index weights. Based on the GST and the AHP, layer-based assessment values are determined for the bottom evaluation sequence and the index weights. The combination of AHP and GST aims to obtain systematic and structured well-defined procedures that are based on step-by-step processes. The AHP and GST methods are applied successfully to handle any risk assessment problem of the CSP. Furthermore, substantial challenges are encountered in determining the CSP's response time and identifying the most suitable solution out of a specified series of solutions. This issue has been handled using two additive features: the response time and the grey incidence. The final risk values are calculated and can be used for prediction by utilizing the enhanced grey model (EGM) (1,1), which reduces the prediction error by providing direct forecast to avoid the iterative prediction shortcoming of standard GM (1,1). Thus, EGM (1,1) helps maintain the reliability on a larger scale despite utilizing more prediction periods. Based on the experimental results, we evaluate the validity, accuracy, and response time of the proposed approach. The simulation experiments were conducted to validate the suitability of the proposed model. The simulation results demonstrate that our risk assessment model contributes to reducing deviation to support CSPs with the three adopted models.

  • A cloud Security Framework Based on Trust Model and Mobile Agent
    IEEE, 2015
Co-Authors: Benabied Saddek, Zitouni Abdelhafid, Djoudi Mahieddine
    Abstract:

International audiencecloud computing as a potential paradigm offers tremendous advantages to enterprises. With the cloud computing, the market's entrance time is reduced, computing capabilities is augmented and computing power is really limitless. Usually, to use the full power of cloud computing, cloud users has to rely on external cloud service provider for managing their data. Nevertheless, the management of data and services are probably not fully trustworthy. Hence, data owners are uncomfortable to place their sensitive data outside their own system .i.e., in the cloud. Bringing transparency, trustworthiness and security in the cloud model, in order to fulfill client's requirements are still ongoing. To achieve this goal, our paper introduces two levels security framework: cloud service provider (CSP) and cloud service User (CSU). Each level is responsible for a particular task of the security. The CSU level includes a proxy agent and a trust agent, dealing with the first verification. Then a second verification is performed at the CSP level. The framework incorporates a trust model to monitor users' behaviors. The use of mobile agents will exploit their intrinsic features such as mobility, deliberate localization and secure communication channel provision. This model aims to protect user's sensitive information from other internal or external users and hackers. Moreover, it can detect policy breaches, where the users are notified in order to take necessary actions when malicious access or malicious activity would occur
