effect of the spray drying process on the properties of coated films in fluidized bed granular coaters
Advanced Powder Technology, 2002Co-Authors: Narimichi Takei, Kazuomi Unosawa, Shirou MatsumotoAbstract:Influences of spray drying a Coating Liquid on the properties of coated films were investigated by using three types of fluidized bed coaters. The top spray method with a conventional fluidized bed coater was ineffective in producing small amounts of coated particles for controlled drug release. Both a smooth surface of coated particles and a high adhesion efficiency were obtained by using the side spray method in a fluidized bed coater with a rotary disk. It is concluded that the concentration of Coating materials in the Liquid layer on coated particles plays an important role in determining the physical properties of the Coating film.

operability Coating windows and frequency response in slot Coating flows from a viscocapillary model
Chemical Engineering Science, 2011Co-Authors: Hyun Wook Jung, J. C. HyunAbstract:Abstract Slot Coating, indispensable to the manufacturer of flat panel displays and long-life secondary batteries, can be susceptible to unexpected disturbances at high speeds, leading to many kinds of undesirable defects. Operability Coating windows for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian (shear-thinning) Liquids have been investigated using a simplified viscocapillary model in a slot Coating bead flow regime. Stable Coating windows, free from leaking (or dripping) and bead break-up, have been determined by the position of upstream meniscus. They quantitatively coincided with those from two-dimensional calculations by a CFD Fluent solver. The pressure range that allowed a stable bead widened as the viscosity of the Coating Liquid or the capillary number in downstream die region increased. Also, the sensitivity of the slot Coating flow through frequency response method was tested by measuring the amplitude of final wet Coating thickness with respect to ongoing sinusoidal disturbances at different frequencies imposed to web speed, flow rate, bead pressure and Coating gap. The viscocapillary model was compared with a 2D model and was found to be a fast and efficient tool that could enhance the productivity and processability of Coating systems.

an optimal die design for the Coating uniformity of non newtonian Liquids in slot Coating process
Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2011Co-Authors: Seo Hoon Shim, Hyun Wook Jung, J. C. HyunAbstract:In this study, the flow behavior of Newtonian and non-Newtonian Coating Liquids inside slot die has beenscrutinized for the purpose of optimal internal die design in slot Coating system from three-dimensional computations byCFD Fluent solver. A hybrid slot die could be optimally designed by changing the chamber or manifold structure toguarantee the uniform velocity distribution of Coating Liquids at die exit. Especially, for the non-Newtonian Coating liq-uids, the length of coat-hanger for the uniform Coating has been properly chosen, according to the degree of their shear-thinning properties.Key words: Slot Coating, Internal Die Design, Non-Newtonian Coating Liquid, Uniform Coating, Chamber Structure

key sheet light guide sheet having light blocking effect push button switch and method for manufacturing key sheet
2009Co-Authors: Yasunori Takeda, Hiroki KishikuAbstract:The present invention provides technology that can efficiently guide light to the interior of a key sheet and prevents light from leaking from the circumferences of key tops. A key sheet (1) has a light-shielding dark print layer (24), on the rear surface (3b) of a base sheet (3), that is a cured body of a Coating Liquid that is not dissolve to the surface of the base sheet (3), and also has a smooth surface (11) between the base sheet (3) and the dark print layer (24). The invention can make light transmitting in the base sheet (3) hard to enter the dark print layer (24) so that the light can be efficiently guided in the base sheet (3), and also can prevent light from transmitting through the base sheet (3) by blocking the light.

key sheet light blocking effect sheet push button switch and key sheet manufacturing method
2008Co-Authors: Yasunori TakedaAbstract:Provided is a key sheet or a lightproof light guiding sheet guiding light efficiently through an interior of the key sheet and preventing light leakage through a periphery of key tops. On a base sheet, a transparent resin layer, and further, a lightproof dark print layer are provided as needed, with at least one of the transparent resin layer and the lightproof dark print layer being formed of a non-corrosive Coating Liquid. Further, a smooth surface is formed between the base sheet and the dark print layer.
