The Marshall CT Classification is used to identify those subgroups of brain injured patients at higher risk of deterioration or mortality. The purpose of this study is to determine whether and how AIS Coding can be translated to the Marshall Classification Methods: Initially, a Marshall Class was allocated to each AIS code through cross-tabulation. This was agreed upon through several discussion meetings with experts from both fields (clinicians and AIS coders). Furthermore, in order to make this translation possible, some necessary assumptions with regards to Coding and Classification of mass lesions and brain swelling were essential which were all approved and made explicit. Results: The proposed method involves two stages: firstly to determine all possible Marshall Classes which a given patient can attract based on allocated AIS codes; via cross-tabulation and secondly to assign one Marshall Class to each patient through an algorithm. Conclusion: This method can be easily programmed in computer softwares and it would enable future important TBI research programs using trauma registry data.

Propuesta de mejora de gestión por procesos para incrementar la rentabilidad en la empresa extintores Santa Rosa S.R.L.

A través del diagrama de Ishikawa se lograron identificar 6 causas raíz que contribuyen al problema. A continuación, se estimaron las pérdidas que generaban las causas identificadas haciendo un total de 15’498.57 soles al año. Estas pérdidas son causadas por el reprocesamiento de no conformidades y una deficiente gestión logística, de modo que la propuesta de mejora está enfocada en aplicar herramientas de ingeniería como Descripción de Funciones, Procesos de Inducción y Capacitación, y Procedimientos Escrito de Trabajo para la reducción de no conformidades; y en cuanto a técnicas de gestión logística y de almacén, se propone la aplicación de Codificación y Ubicación de Materiales, Control de entrada y salida de materiales así como establecer un procedimiento de Requerimiento Interno y aunarlo a una Planeación de Requerimiento de Materiales. Stage-specific incidence and survival of breast cancer in Norway: The implications of changes in Coding and Classification practice

We identified all women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the period between 1980 and 2015. Changes in the Coding and Classification of breast cancer in the study period were described, and stage-specific incidence rates and relative survival were calculated. A total of 90 362 women were diagnosed with primary breast cancer, stage I–IV, or unknown stage, in the study period. Stage-specific incidence was significantly influenced by changes in Coding practice, Classification systems and the implementation of the screening program. These changes have mostly affected the proportion of stage I and “unknown”, but also stages II, III and IV. The proportion of stage I showed a clear increase during the implementation period of the national screening program, and was most pronounced within the age group 50–69. Stage-specific trends for relative survival were less influenced by changes in Coding and Classification of stage. Our study showed that the stage-specific incidence trends in Norway were influenced by changes in the Coding and Classification practice. These findings should be taken into consideration in future research and evaluation related to stage-specific trends and stage migration of breast cancer in Norway.

Methods Established quantitative and semi-quantitative methods were used to assess comparability, completeness, accuracy and timeliness of data for the period 1953–2005, with special attention to the registration period 2001–2005. Results The CRN Coding and Classification system by and large follows international standards, with some further subdivisions of morphology groupings performed in-house. The overall completeness was estimated at 98.8% for the registration period 2001–2005. There remains a variable degree of under-reporting particularly for haematological malignancies (C90–95) and tumours of the central nervous system (C70–72). For the same period, 93.8% of the cases were morphologically verified (site-specific range: 60.0–99.8%). The under-reporting in 2005 due to timely publication is estimated at 2.2% overall, based on the number of cases received at the registry during the following year. Conclusion This review suggests the routines in place at the CRN yields comparable data that can be considered reasonably accurate, close-to-complete and timely, thereby justifying our policy of the reporting of annual incidence one year after the year of diagnosis.
