Energy and exergy analysis of intensified Condensate stabilization unit with water draw pan
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2019Co-Authors: Yadollah Tavan, Seyyed Hossein Hosseini, Goodarz AhmadiAbstract:Abstract An industrial Condensate Stabilizer unit is simulated with HYSYS 3.1 software when the excessive water is present on the trays. Effects of reboiler temperature, excess water flow rate, and incoming stream temperature on the Reid vapor pressure (RVP), temperature distribution along the column and impurity concentrations along the stabilization column, as well as, energy usage are studied. In addition, the optimal location for the water draw tray for the Condensate Stabilizer column is found. It is observed that the presence of water draw pan in the column leads to about 15% and 28% reduction, respectively, in the reboiler and the compressor duties compared to the industrial case without water draw pan. For the optimal case, 73% of excess water is recovered from the water draw pan. The presence of the water draw pan in the column also results in lower amount of impurities and higher heating value in the off-gas stream. Finally, the column with the water draw pan shows higher exergy efficiency of about 81% in comparison with the column without water draw pan (with exergy efficiency of about 72%).

case studies thermal analysis of hp Condensate Stabilizer column
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014Co-Authors: Muhammad Qirom, Antonius Indarto, I Arsa D G PutrawanAbstract:The HP Condensate Stabilizer column is located in the Condensate Stabilizer unit that functions to recover light hydrocarbons from feed. The HP Condensate Stabilizer column is a stripping column equipped with 15 trays, condenser, reboiler and a pump-around. The main purpose of HP column is to recover propane and butane components from feed Condensate by a distillation process. This process is conducted by heating the liquid in the bottom of the column using steam. The amount of heat supplied is depend on the mass and heat balance in the column based on the targeted product quality from the bottom of the column. The product quality measured is Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) that indicate the volatility characteristics of bottom product.

Chapter Six – Condensate Stabilization
Surface Production Operations, 2020Co-Authors: Maurice I. StewartAbstract:This chapter discusses the methods for removing intermediate components from the gas stream. It begins by explaining the significance of a component’s partial pressure and how the fraction of a component that flashes to gas in a process is a function of the temperature, pressure, and composition of the fluid at the stage when the component flashes. The chapter then considers constant flashes at constant temperature and decreasing pressure, or multistage separation, which is the simplest form of Condensate stabilization. It also discusses multiple flashes at constant pressure and increasing temperature, or cold feed distillation in a Condensate stabilization system. As part of the discussion, the chapter describes the design of a Condensate Stabilizer system, and it ends by contemplating how a Condensate Stabilizer can be used as a simple gas processing plant and how a low temperature extractor (LTX) unit can serve as a simple cold-feed Stabilizer.
