This Relationship was interpreted as demonstrating local ecological determination of diversity, leaving little room for regional and historical effects. We suggest that using family richness to describe patterns of diversity reduces regional effects owing to the lower endemism of plants at the family compared with the species level. Regardless of the taxonomic level of analysis, we further point out that unless regional effects are tested explicitly, statistically significant differences in diversity between regions can be overlooked. Finally, even correlations between diversity and physical conditions of the environment can have primarily historical and evolutionary origins when lineages diversify within ecological zones of origin and spread more slowly to diverse environments. ReitzAbstract:Length of respiratory cycles was monitored while Ss were presented with (1) auditory and (2) visual stimuli varying in intensity. The phenomenon of greatest slowing in respiration occurring at the S's auditory threshold was demonstrated. However, no Consistent Relationship was demonstrated between length of the respiratory cycle and visual threshold.

A positive Relationship between productivity (estimated by above-ground dry biomass) and the species richness component of diversity was detected only for quadrats from the most recently disturbed community. The communities that experienced longer post-disturbance time showed no significant Relationship between productivity and species richness. Quadrat productivity, however, was negatively related to the species evenness component of diversity in all three communities, i.e., regardless of time since disturbance. However, it is very difficult to make a quantitative calculation of the total deformation by the Levy—Mises equation expressed with the components of deviator and strain increments. The author has modified the calculation into a form of qualitative description called the Consistent Relationship between the stress- and strain-components, on the basis of the Levy—Mises equation for the condition of non-proportional loading. As the examples of its application, the tendency of the size-variation of the workpiece plane-stress forming processes is given also.
