Rayleigh fading and pulse interference influence on the QPSK system performance

StefanovicAbstract:The purpose of this paper is to provide the theoretical approach for determining the bit error probability in detecting a coherent quaternary phase shift keyed signal in the presence of the Rayleigh fading, Gaussian noise and pulse interference, as well as the noisy carrier reference signal. Phase locked loop, as the Constituent Part of the receiver, is used in providing the synchronization reference signal extraction, which is assumed to be imperfect in this paper. The determined results are based on the nonlinear phase locked loop model with primary emphasis on the degradations in the system performance produced by the imperfect carrier signal extraction.

An example of a hybrid system: coherent optical system with Costas loop in receiver-system for transmission in baseband

The coherent optical system is the Constituent Part of this system. The first Part of the system is constructed in passband (optical cable is transmission medium), and the second Part of the system is constructed in baseband. The heterodyne optical receiver is used as optical receiver. Estimation is not done just after demodulation, but it is done at the end of the section in baseband. Taking into account shot noise of photodetectors, laser phase noise (transmitter laser and local laser) and noise which is generated during transmission by means of the section in baseband, we determine the performances of the proposed system.

Promoting Dobrogea region as a Constituent Part of the 'Silk Road' – an engine for socio–economic and cultural cooperation in the globalization context

The potential of development for this economy sector can be huge. There are specific patterns for every culture and that is why cultural tourism is an inexhaustible source of tourism resources. Cultural tourism represents, along with trade, a vector of knowledge, exchange and tempering for the relations between nations. In this sense the 'Silk Road' program promoted by UNESCO represents an example of cooperation and intercultural exchange, being also an engine of growth for the regions included in the program. Dobrogea, as a land situated at the junction of great empires, subject to social, economic, political and even geological changes can offer us, at the beginning of the third millennium, important disclosures for the world history. The purpose of this paper is to militate for including Dobrogea in the UNESCO program of preserving and promoting the “Silk Road” tourism product. Even if now Dobrogea is not Part of the 'Silk Road' destinations, available evidence support our proposition on the necessity of a more thorough research in order to find new information to support this theory. Our research examines the manner in which promoting Dobrogea as Part of the “Silk Road” destination can be a value for the UNESCO program and also for the local economy. This can represent a resource worth developing through a public - private Partnership between the tourism industry, largely privatized and the Ministry of Culture. Through a medium and long term strategy, a sustained promotional campaign, this hypothesis could be proven if a Part of the revenue generated from tourism would be invested in culture. This paper is an exploratory research, based on data and studies on the importance of promoting Dobrogea region as Part of UNESCO 'Silk Road' program.

Geotouristics as a Constituent Part of Tourism as a Science

The authors employ the term ´touristics´ and claim that touristics is a complex scientific field and an interdisciplinary research area. Glossaries define touristics as comprising an entire system of tourism sciences, tourist activities, tourist economy, tourist management and tourist legislation. The article states that the theory of tourism originated from economic sciences, which ensures a high level of development that tourist economy, management, marketing, advertising and holiday industry demonstrate today, each contributing to the core oftouristics. However, it would be shortsighted to underestimate the value of geographical and geospatial scientific knowledge for the development oftouristics, which covers geographical space as well as economy. The article views geotouristics as a distinct scientific field studying as its object the continual and discrete (discontinuous) tourism and recreation environment as existing within geographical space. The subject of touristic scientific research encompasses objects of tourist interest, Constituents of tourist infrastructure, their nature-oriented and geo-ecological aspect, social and demographic features of the indigenous population and the changes they undergo in the course of tourist and recreational territory development. Finally, the article evaluates the methods and prospects oftouristics.
