    2020
Co-Authors: Monroy Merchán, María Del Pilar
    Abstract:

From the study of the Libro de la Cofradía de la Natividad (book of the Natividad Brotherhood) of the town of Moncora, written by the priests of the town from 1625 to 1805, and which is available in the Archivo Histórico Regional de Santander (AHRS), this article explores the foundation of a Corporate Body which pragmatically followed the Synod Constitutions and established the elective system of charges based on the recognition of indigenous and Spanish elites. Such elites shared the economic administration of the brotherhood, the organization of religious festivities and the adaptation of the chapel. The article analyzes how the foundation of the brotherhood did not respond to a process of coercion of the indigenous groups by the Hispanic order. Far from this vision, it is considered that both ethnic groups “lived together” in the corporation by identifying with the logic of subjectivist thinking . Based on the critique of sources and the hypothetical-deductive research methodology, the configuration of a mestizo brotherhood is analyzed, a space in which indigenous and Spanish sealed the permanence of the colonial order under the oath “in the voice of one”.Do estudo Livro da Cofradía de la Natividad (Irmandade da Natividad) da cidade de Moncora, escrito pelos padres da cidade de 1625 a 1805, e que está disponível no Archivo Histórico Regional de Santander (AHRS), este artigo explora a fundação de um órgão corporativo que seguiu pragmaticamente as Constituições do Sínodo e estabeleceu o sistema eletivo de cobrança baseado no reconhecimento das elites indígenas e espanholas.

  • a framework for unified authority files a case study of Corporate Body names in the fao catalogue
International Conference Theory and Practice Digital Libraries, 2003
    Co-Authors: James Weinheimer, Kafkas Caprazli
    Abstract:

We present a Unified Authority File for Names for use with the FAO Catalogue. This authority file will include all authorized forms of names, and can be used for highly precise resource discovery, as well as for record sharing. Other approaches of creating unified authority files are discussed. A major advantage of our proposal lies in the ease and sustainability of sharing records across authority files. The public would benefit from the Unified Authority File with its possibilities for cross-collection searching, and metadata creators would also have a greater possibility to utilize bibliographic records from other collections. A case study describes the treatment and use of Corporate Body names used in the catalogue of The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

  • access and authorisation in a glocal e health policy context
International Journal of Medical Informatics, 2004
Co-Authors: Richard E Scott, Penny Jennett
    Abstract:

Abstract Challenges to the development of appropriate yet adaptable policy and tools for security of the individual patient electronic health record (EHR) are proving to be significant. Compounding this is the unique capability of e-health to transgress all existing geo-political and other barriers. Initiatives to develop and advance policy, standards, and tools in relation to EHR access control and authorisation management must address this capability. Currently policy development initiatives take place largely in an isolated manner. This jeopardises the potential of e-health because decisions made in one jurisdiction might hamper, even prevent, an e-health opportunity in another. This paper places access and authorisation issues in an overall policy context through describing current Canadian initiatives. The National Initiative for Telehealth (NIFTE) Guidelines project is developing a framework of national guidelines for telehealth. The Policy and Peer Permission (PPP) project is developing a unique tool that provides persistent protection of data. The new Corporate Body ‘Infoway’ is developing a pan-Canadian electronic health record solution. Finally, the Glocal e-Health Policy initiative is developing a tool with which to identify and describe the inter-relationships of e-health issues amongst policy levels, themes, and actors.
