  • Study of reducing method for static bottom-hole pressure in deep gas wells
Journal of Daqing Petroleum Institute, 2020
    Co-Authors: Wang Yan-ling
    Abstract:

The deep gas wells of Qingshen gas field in Daqing are characterized by the great well depth, high bottom temperature, high bottom pressure and gas production with water. The bottom hole pressure's reducing formula that predecessors had used cannot meet production's need.In view of the above situation, according to the pumping data developed from production of Daqing Oil Field,we predict that there is fluid column at the bottom of gas production well with water when the well is shut in.According to the flow behavior of gas and water in the bore hole,we finally confirm the fact that fluid column exists, and derive a formula for calculating the height of fluid column. We also arry on the suitable merge Cullender and Smith's bottom hole pressure formulation and pressure intensity caused by fluid column, finally obtain the suitable method for calculating the bottom hole pressure of deep gas well computation suitable method. The improved formula has been tested on Well Xushen-7's KYC107Ⅰlayer,and convert accuracy degrees are all smaller than 1 MPa.The result can conform to the actual production need.

  • MODIFICATIONS TO THE CALCULATION METHOD OF FLOWING PRESSURE GRADIENT IN GAS WELL TUBING
    Natural Gas Industry, 2020
    Co-Authors: Liu Ying
    Abstract:

After many papers on bottomhole pressure calculated by average temperature and deviation factor of gas wells were issued in 1940's, much more new methods have come to birth continuously, among which those presented by Cullender Smith and Aziz were both outstanding. Based on Cullender Smith's method, modifications in three aspects were made to improve the accuracy of pressure gradient calculation for complex tubing flow in gas wells. The first was permutation of the original integrand; the second was calculation integrally from the wellhead to the casing shoe with 300 meters as a step; and the third was application of temperature data measured from gas wells in Daqing oilfield to substitute the variable in the integrand. Proven by practical data, the modified method provides more accurate solution of bottomhole pressure.

  • Estimating the Static Bottom-Hole Pressure of Gas Wells by Top Node Calculation Using Apparent Molecular Weight Profiling
Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2019
    Co-Authors: Nasser M. Al-hajri, Sidqi A. Abu-khamsin, Mohammed D. Al-ajmi
    Abstract:

A reservoir’s static bottom-hole pressures (SBHPs) are an integral component of many reservoir evaluation disciplines. The SBHP is normally acquired through gauge measurements; however, this method has disadvantages such as cost and risk. Accordingly, the ability to accurately estimate the SBHP would provide a cost-effective and safe alternative to well intervention. In this work, a new calculation method is introduced to predict the SBHP of a natural gas well. This method differs from existing methods by utilizing the apparent molecular weight profiling concept. Based on the inputs of pressure and temperature gradient data, an iterative calculation scheme is applied to produce a well-specific molecular weight profile. This profile is used along with a modified form of the equation of state to perform top node pressure calculations and ultimately predict the SBHP for gas wells. The top node method was tested rigorously using 75 case studies from five different fields and reservoirs and the prediction results were compared with actual field measurements. Also, the prediction performance of the top node method was compared with those of four previous methods (Rawlins and Schellhardt, Rzasa and Katz, Sukkar and Cornell, and Cullender and Smith). The results of this work showed that the top node calculation method was accurate in predicting the SBHP and has outperformed the four previous methods.

  • Methods of bottom-hole flow pressure calculations for coalbed methane wells
Oil Drilling & Production Technology, 2020
    Co-Authors: Hu Aimei
    Abstract:

The bottom-hole flow pressure(BHFP) of coalbed methane(CBM) wells is very important for production strategy designing and management performance.According to the different drainage methods and production characteristics of CBM wells, the BHFP of CBM wells was calculated by different combination methods on the basis of the conventional gas wells BHFP calculation methods.Aset of software was designed for the BHFP calculation of CBM wells and the results were compared with that of actual measured in CBM wells. The relationship between the BHFP and the productions in different drainage production period were analyzed by using the field CBM production data. The research shows that the pressure of pure gas column calculated by mean temperature-mean deviation coefficient method is higher than that by Cullender-Smith method. The pressure of gas-liquid mixture column calculated by "S" curve method corrected by Podio is higher than that calculated by the J.l Chen-X.A Yue method and the Hasan-Kabir analysis method. The BHFP makes negative correlation with the CBM production when the CBM supply is rich and the CBM production increases with the decrease of BHFP.The change of BHFP with CBM production is different for different CBM production stage.
