SEC - Demo Abstract: Indoor Air Quality Monitoring Using a Virtual Customer Premise Edge
2016 IEEE ACM Symposium on Edge Computing (SEC), 2016Co-Authors: Petros Spachos, Jieyu Lin, Hadi Bannazadeh, Alberto Leon-garciaAbstract:In this demonstration we use a prototype of a WirelessSensor Node along with a Software Defined Infrastructureto monitor the quality of the air in different classrooms at a University. Specifically, a number of wireless nodes are deployed in different classrooms. Each node has a number of sensors to monitor the air quality in the room. A number of relay nodes forward the data to a vCPE, which delivers the data to a Smart Edge. In the vCPE and the Smart Edge, a monitoring and analytic system, called MonArch, is used for collection, storage and analytic purposes of the monitoring data.

FABULOUS - SAVI vCPE and Internet of Things
Lecture Notes of the Institute for Computer Sciences Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering, 2015Co-Authors: Jieyu Lin, Hadi Bannazadeh, Petros Spachos, Alberto Leon-garciaAbstract:As cloud computing technologies continue to develop and evolve, cloud infrastructure has become heterogeneous and multi-tiered. A new demand in cloud computing is to provide cloud functionalities at the Customer Premise to support Customer needs. This demand is addressed in this paper by providing virtual Customers Premise Edge (vCPE) as a third tier of the SAVI Testbed, which is a platform established for experimentation of future applications. A smart room monitoring use case is used to demonstrate the functionalities and efficiency of the vCPE in the SAVI Testbed.

Performance of 32 GHz Portable Broadband Wireless Access System employing Adaptive Modulation and Forward Error Correction
2006 European Microwave Conference, 2006Co-Authors: Kiyoshi Hamaguchi, Hiroyo OgawaAbstract:In this paper the paper describe overview of test-bed employing millimeter-wave broadband wireless access systems using 32/18/37 GHz bands, which handle up to 1 Gbps data rate. Then, specification and performance of 32 GHz portable Customer-Premise equipment is introduced, which is employing 4-states combination of adaptive modulation and forward error correction as a part of the test-bed

VTC Fall - Design and Performance of 32 GHz Portable Broadband Wireless Access System
IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, 2006Co-Authors: Kiyoshi Hamaguchi, Hiroyo OgawaAbstract:In this paper we describe overview of the test-bed using gigabit millimeter-wave broadband wireless access systems using 32/18/37 GHz bands. Then, specification and performance of a portable Customer-Premise equipment employing 4-states combination of adaptive modulation and forward error correction at 32 GHz as a part of the test-bed is introduced. Empirically derived formula of the number of rain fade events per year is also derived to assist designing for unavailability at millimeter wave links.
