  • Improved Decoding Technique for the DVD
IEE Colloquium on Audio and Music Technology: the Challenge of Creative DSP, 1998
Co-Authors: Phillip Benachour, Bahram Honary, Garik Markarian
    Abstract:

A new Technique for representing and Decoding of nonlinear block codes has been investigated based on the tree-trellis construction method. Such a Technique is applied to the EFMPlus recording code used in the digital versatile disc (DVD). By employing the tree-trellis construction Technique, a reduction in the overall complexity of the Decoding process can be achieved. Simulation test results have also shown that a performance improvement has been attained for the new Technique when compared to the conventional Decoding method.

  • trellis Decoding Technique for binary adder channel with m users and its application in lans
    IEE Proceedings - Communications, 1997
Co-Authors: Garik Markarian, Bahram Honary, Phillip Benachour
    Abstract:

A trellis design procedure for the M-user binary-adder channel is introduced. Based on this Technique, trellis diagrams for some known 2-user coding schemes have been designed. In addition, a DC-free 2-user binary coding scheme, together with its trellis structure, is introduced and investigated. It is shown that the new Technique provides about 2 dB energy gain in comparison with the conventional Techniques. A useful and interesting application of this Technique would be the token-ring local area network where the number of users can be increased without bandwidth expansion.

  • IMA Int. Conf. - Novel Decoding Technique for the Synchronous and Quasi-synchronous Multiple Access Adder Channel
    Crytography and Coding, 1997
Co-Authors: Garik Markarian, Phillip Benachour, Bahram Honary
    Abstract:

A novel Technique that allows efficient trellis Decoding for the M-choose-T synchronous multiple access (MA) adder channel is investigated. Decoding in the M-choose-T system is performed in two operations, identifying the set of active users in the channel and Decoding the received data according to which set of users are active. The results show that a sufficient performance improvement is achieved without the need for additional information regarding the active users. The application of the proposed Technique to the quasi-synchronous MA adder channel is also analysed. The modified Decoding procedure shows a further improvement when compared to the conventional hard Decoding Technique.

    Crytography and Coding, 1997
Co-Authors: Phillip Benachour, Garik Markarian, Bahram Honary
    Abstract:

A novel Technique that allows efficient trellis Decoding for M-choose-T synchronous collaborative coding multiple access (CCMA) codes is investigated. The results show that a sufficient performance improvement is achieved without the need for additional information regarding the active users. The application of the proposed Technique to asynchronous CCMA codes is also analysed. The modified Decoding procedure shows a further improvement when compared to the conventional hard Decoding Technique.

  • a novel shape based coding Decoding Technique for an industrial visual inspection system
    Isa Transactions, 2004
Co-Authors: Anirban Mukherjee, Subhasis Chaudhuri, Pranab K Dutta, Siddhartha Sen, Amit Patra
    Abstract:

This paper describes a unique single camera-based dimension storage method for image-based measurement. The system has been designed and implemented in one of the integrated steel plants of India. The purpose of the system is to encode the frontal cross-sectional area of an ingot. The encoded data will be stored in a database to facilitate the future manufacturing diagnostic process. The compression efficiency and reconstruction error of the lossy encoding Technique have been reported and found to be quite encouraging.

  • An Efficient Lattice Sphere Decoding Technique for Multi-Carrier Systems
    Wireless Personal Communications, 2015
    Co-Authors: Mahmoud A. M. Albreem
    Abstract:

A low-complexity detection scheme, which consists of a lattice sphere decoder (LSD), is proposed for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The inter-carrier interference resulting from selective fading channel destroys the orthogonality of the OFDM signal and poses a significant limitation on wireless OFDM systems. The aim of this paper is to propose an efficient detection Technique in order to provide reliable communications using OFDM in selective fading channels. The proposed detection Technique combines the new LSD with two regularization methods. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed detection scheme substantially improves the symbol error rate performance of OFDM systems. Moreover, its complexity is 22 times lower than that reported in a previous work, and 51 times lower than the complexity of the original sphere Decoding Technique.

  • CyberC - Lattice Sphere Decoding Technique Assisted Optimum Detection for Block Data Transmission Systems
2012 International Conference on Cyber-Enabled Distributed Computing and Knowledge Discovery, 2012
Co-Authors: Mahmoud A. M. Albreem, Mohd Fadzli Mohd Salleh
    Abstract:

The complexity of exhaustive search Decoding Technique grows exponentially with size of transmitted data. This paper proposes lattice sphere Decoding Technique with optimum performance and lower complexity. A linear system with a relatively small condition number is well-conditioned, so errors are not amplified significantly. In this paper, orthonormal basis of channel matrix has been used, hence the condition number is 1 which is the minimum. The proposed Technique achieves significant performance improvement with huge complexity reduction.

  • Lattice sphere Decoding Technique for block data transmission systems
Proceeding of the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Space Science and Communication (IconSpace), 2011
Co-Authors: Mahmoud A. M. Albreem, Mohd Fadzli Mohd Salleh
    Abstract:

Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in demand for higher data rates for wireless communication. Decoder's complexity of the exhaustive search Decoding Technique such as Maximum Likelihood Block Detection (MLBD) grows exponentially with the size of transmitted data. In this paper, a lattice sphere Decoding (LSD) Technique is proposed for detection in block data transmission systems (BDTS). Simulation results at 10 dB channel SNR of BDTS with LSD using block size of 20 performs are better performance as compared to previous LSD method and slightly inferior than the exhaustive search Technique using the channels with spectral nulls. In term of complexity, the proposed LSD requires only 390 and 74 objective functions evaluation using radius selection based on Babai estimation (BE) and the proposed method respectively, while the exhaustive search requires 220 objective functions evaluation respectively.
