Our results suggest that the Demographic dividend contributed to nearly one fourth of the economic growth in China in the past three decades, while total Factor productive growth explains another third and capital accumulation explaining the remaining growth (nearly half). China's potential growth rate will continue to slow — it was nearly 10 per cent during 1980-2010 but 6.65 per cent on average during 2016-2020 — because of the diminishing Demographic dividend, but reform measures are conductive to clearing the institutional barriers to the supply of Factors and productivity, buffering the potential growth rate. The aggregate reform dividend could reach to 1-2 per cent on average during 2016-2050.

Chronic stress that induced by psychosocial stressor lead to the development of both metabolic syndrome and depression. Further research is important to identify which type of psychosocial stressor is the risk Factor for depression symptom in patient with metabolic syndrome. Aims: This study is to identify the type of psychosocial stressor which could be the risk Factor for depressive symptom. Method: The study design was case control. The case group consisted of metabolic syndrome patients with depressive symptom, while the control group consisted of metabolic syndrome patients without depressive symptom. Metabolic syndrome was diagnosed based on International Diabetes Federation (IDF) criteria. Depressive symptom was measured by Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Psychosocial stressors were measured by Stressful Life Events (SLE) questionnaire. Dependent variable was depressive symptom, while independent variables were type of psychosocial stressors (finance, work, social relationship, health and housing). Analysis methods that used in this study were independent t test, Pearson/Spearman correlation analysis, chi square and logistic regression. Result: There were 54 patients in this study, consisted of 24 in case group and 30 incontrol group. There was no significant difference in most basic characteristics between two groups. There was significant difference of SLE score between two groups. Chi square analysis showed that housing, finance, health, social relationship, and work stressors were risk Factors for developing depressive symptom in metabolic syndrome (OR 24.5; 9.7; 8.4; 5.4; 3.9 respectively, significant). Demographic Factor which also influenced depressive symptoms was salary less than 1 million per month (OR 45, significant). According to logistic regression analysis, psychosocial stressors which most influenced the depressive symptom were finance and housing. Conclusion: The study showed that housing, finance, health, social relationship and work stressors were risk Factors for developing depressive symptomp in metabolic syndrome.

We present a dynamic general equilibrium model in which Demographic changes are captured by exogenous changes in the ratio of workers to the total population. Our model predicts that a decline in this ratio in the process of population aging lowers the real interest rate; and the Demographic impact on the real interest rate is amplified by a fall in land prices in the presence of collateral constraints. The model is simulated with the realized and forecasted changes in the working-age population ratio, the TFP growth, and government spending in Japan. Our results indicate that the TFP growth is the main source of variations in the real interest rate, but the Demographic Factor is also quantitatively important especially for its long-term movements.

Meanwhile, China has more smokers than any other country, with half of men smoke while few women smoke. Men are the major income earners in most Chinese families and thus bear much of the financial burden in preparation for children's marriage. This paper investigates how a Demographic Factor - a large number of surplus men in the marriage market in China - affects their fathers' smoking behavior. We utilize a household longitudinal survey as well as a random subsample of the China Population Census to examine fathers' smoking in response to skewed sex ratios. Strikingly, fathers smoke more for families with a son living in counties with higher sex ratios. In contrast, those with a daughter do not demonstrate this pattern. Coping with the marriage market pressure is a most plausible pathway linking skewed sex ratios and intense smoking among fathers. Considering worsening sex ratios and highly competitive marriage market in the coming decade as well as lasting health impacts due to smoking, policies suppressing unbalanced sex ratios could lead to welfare gains.
