    This study uses multivariate regression analysis to examine the effects of asset specificity on the financial performance of both external and internal governance structures for medical Device Maintenance, and investigates how the financial performance of external governance structures differs depending on whether a hospital is private or public. The hypotheses were tested using information on 764 medical Devices and 62 Maintenance service providers, resulting in 1403 Maintenance transactions. As such, our data sample is significantly larger than those used in previous studies in this area. The results empirically support our core theoretical argument that governance financial performance is influenced by assets specificity.

    Abstract:

    Postrožavanjem MARPOL-ovih zakona, poglavito 14. pravila VI. priloga, dolazi do naglih promjena u pomorskoj industriji. Od 1. siječnja 2020. brodovi više ne mogu koristiti klasično teško gorivo kao dosad. Revidirani MARPOL prilog VI nalaže korištenje goriva s manje od 0.5% sumpora. Scrubber uređaj se ugrađuje radi smanjivanja emisije sumpora u ispušnim plinovima. Kada brodski motor ima ugrađen scrubber uređaj može koristiti gorivo s više od 0.5% sumpora. Scrubber uređaji nova su tehnologija. Kao i kod svakog novog uređaja, potrebno je određeno vrijeme kako bi se uspostavila kvalitetna rutina održavanja. Plansko se održavanje iskustveno razvija te je potrebno određeno vrijeme za stvaranje trenda podataka za bazu planiranog održavanja. Uz pomoć trenda održavanja može se napraviti raspored planskog održavanja. Ispravan rad scrubber uređaja nužan je za izbjegavanje oneĉišćenja okoliša i kršenja pravila MARPOL konvencije.As MARPOL regulations are becoming more strict, especially regulation 14. of Annex VI, sudden changes are affecting maritime industry. From 1. January 2020. ships are not allowed to use standard heavy fuel oil as we know. Revised MARPOL Annex VI requires use of fuel with less than 0.5 % of sulfur. Scrubber Devices are installed in order to reduce sulfur emission in exhaust gas. If marine diesel engine has fitted scrubber Device, it can use fuel with more than 0.5 % of sulfur. Scrubber Devices are new technology. As with every new Device, it takes time to develop good Maintenance routines. Planned Maintenance is developed with experience. It is necessary to create a data trend on which we can build up our planned Maintenance. We can develop planned Maintenance schedules upon data trends. Availability and proper functioning of scrubber Device is important in order to avoid environmental impact and violations of MARPOL regulations
