Spirituality Level, Family Support, and Spiritual Self Care Behavior among Patient with Diabetic Ulcers
Babali Nursing Research, 2020Co-Authors: Ika Nur Pratiwi, Kusnanto Kusnanto, Malinda Kurnia PutriAbstract:Introduction: Patients with Diabetic Ulcers tend to experience problems in implementing spirituality practices. Patients with Diabetic Ulcers also experience weaknesses and impaired mobilization that have an impact on family dependence and decreased self-efficacy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between spirituality level and family support with spiritual self-care behavior in Diabetic Ulcer patients. Methods: A descriptive correlation design with a cross-sectional approach. In a total of 92 patients with Diabetic Ulcers in Sidoarjo General District Hospital in June-July 2019 recruited. Independent variables were the level of spirituality and family support. The dependent variable was spiritual self-care behavior. Data obtained through the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) questionnaire, family support questionnaire, and Spiritual Self Care Practice (SSCPS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test of categorical variables with a p-value ≤ 0.05 and logistic regression for multivariate analysis. Results: The study showed there was a significant relationship between spirituality level (p = 0,000) and family support (p = 0,001) with spiritual self-care behavior in Diabetic Ulcer patients. The result of regression analysis showed the respondents with a high level of spirituality would increase 0.138 times of the spiritual self-care behavior probability. Conclusion: The level of spirituality and family support can promote individual coping to be more positive which may accelerate the process of receiving and healing wounds.

Body image related to quality of life Diabetic Ulcer patients.
Enfermeria clinica, 2019Co-Authors: Lia Nurhikmah, Dewi Gayatri, Tuti NurainiAbstract:Identify the relationship between body image with the quality of life of Diabetic Ulcer patients. This research design used a cross-sectional study in 97 Diabetic Ulcer patients at a wound care clinic in Jakarta, Indonesia was selected using consecutive sampling. Data were collected using the body image questionnaire to assess the body image and Short Form 36 (SF 36) questionnaire to assess the quality of life. The result showed that there was a significant relationship between body image with the quality of life Diabetic Ulcer patients (p-value=0.001, α=0.05). Beside of the body image, the factors affecting the quality of life Diabetic Ulcer patients were social, economic status (p=0.007), grade of Diabetic Ulcer (p=0.001), pain (p=0.001) and odor (p=0.002). Body image assessment of Diabetic Ulcer patients is important as a basis for identifying body image to improve the quality of life by providing comprehensive nursing care. For further research is expected to discuss the relationship between body image with the quality of life in patients with other types of wound such as patients with wound cancer and amputation patients. This research design used cross sectional study with a sample of 97 Diabetic Ulcer patients in a clinic wound care. The research instruments consist of Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) to assess the stress level, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Questionnaire to identify the sleep quality. The results showed that there was a significant difference between subjective sleep quality and sleep quality measured using PSQI (p: 0.001). Factors that affected sleep quality were income (p: 0.014), stress levels (p: 0.001), medications (p: 0.026), pain levels (p: 0.048), and diet (p: 0.009). The results of this study indicate that the importance of conducting sleep quality assessment with the associated factors is to overcome the sleep problems in Diabetic patients. Behaviour model for Diabetic Ulcer prevention
Journal of Diabetes & Metabolic Disorders, 2020Co-Authors: Tintin Sukartini, Theodehild M. Theresia Dee, Ririn Probowati, Hidayat ArifinAbstract:Purpose Diabetic Ulcers are one of the complications that often occur in patients with DM. The aim is to develop a behaviour model for Diabetic Ulcer prevention by integrating Lawrance Green Theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour. Methods An explanative observational design was used with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of DM patients who had underwent treatment at the internal medicine clinic of Sidoarjo District Hospital. The sample size of 133 respondents was obtained through purposive sampling. The data analysis used Partial Least Square. Results Predisposing factors (knowledge), supporting factors (availability of health facilities and accessibility of health resources) and driving factors (the role of health workers and family support) significantly influence the main factors (attitudes toward behaviour, subjective norms and perceptions of self-control) with a statistical T value>1.96. The main factor influences intention (T = 48.650) and intention influences behaviour (T = 4.891). Conclusion Intention is influenced by the attitudes toward behaviour, subjective norms and self-control perceptions. Good intentions can increase the preventive behaviour related to Diabetic Ulcers. Increasing the Diabetic Ulcer prevention behaviour can be done by providing regular education to both the patients and their families about Diabetic Ulcers and their prevention through the appropriate management of DM, lifestyle modification and regular foot care that requires active involvement from the family and health care workers.

The use of Matriderm® and autologous skin grafting in the treatment of Diabetic Ulcers: a case report
International wound journal, 2010Co-Authors: Valerio Cervelli, Lucilla Lucarini, Caterina Cerretani, Diana Spallone, L. Palla, L. Brinci, Barbara De AngelisAbstract:The aim of our case report was to analyse the results obtained with the Matriderm system and autologous skin grafting for the surgical treatment of Diabetic Ulcers. We recruited one patient with Diabetic Ulcers admitted at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, University of Rome 'Tor Vergata'. The patient underwent Matriderm system and autologous skin grafting for Diabetic Ulcer treatment. After just a single treatment, we obtained reduction in Ulcer after 15 days from the surgical treatment. We achieved a reduction in pain and exudate secretion of the Ulcer. We noticed an almost complete restoration of the missing volume and good quality of skin. Matriderm system and autologous skin grafting is a simple, safe and feasible technique. This method, when compared with other methods of treatment, is simple, cheap, less time consuming and does not require sophisticated laboratory facilities.

Meshed Skin Graft versus Split Thickness Skin Graft in Diabetic Ulcer Coverage
Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand, 2004Co-Authors: PaisarnputtirutvongAbstract:Objective : To compare results of skin graft healing in Diabetic Ulcers between the meshed skin graft method and split thickness skin graft method. Duration of complete skin graft healing in both groups was recorded. The relations between Ulcer size and complete skin graft healing duration were analyzed. Patients and Method : This research used a prospective randomized controlled study with 80 Diabetic Ulcer patients from January 2002 -June 2003. Thirty-eight cases were treated by the meshed skin graft method with expansion ratio I : 3 and another 42 cases were treated with the ordinary split- thickness skin. Results: The means of complete healing duration were 19.84 a¹€a¸˜â€˜ 7.37 days in the meshed skin group and 20.36 a¹€a¸˜â€˜ 7.21 days in the normal split-thickness skin graft group. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in duration of complete graft healing and efficacy of treat- ment. The cosmetic result was accepted in both skin graft methods. There was no statistically signifi- cant difference between wound size and complete skin graft healing duration. Conclusion : The meshed skin graft method is as good for Diabetic Ulcer coverage as the ordinary split thickness skin graft. Key word : Meshed Skin Graft, Split Thickness Skin Graft, Skin Graft Healing, Wound Size
