International Cryptology Conference, 1992Co-Authors: Miles E Smid, Dennis K BranstadAbstract:NIST received comments from 109 separate government agencies, companies, and private individuals concerning the proposed digital signature standard. Both positive and negative comments were received. However the number of negative comments was significantly larger than normally received for a proposed Federal Information Processing standard (FTPS). This paper summarizes the major comments, both positive and negative, and provides responses where appropriate. The paper highlights the anticipated significant modifications to the proposed standard and concludes by discussing the future milestones that need to be accomplished before the proposed DSS becomes a FTPS.

Untuk beberapa keperluan seperti transaksi Jual beli kerahasiaan data yang dikirim haruslah terjamin kerahasiaannya. Untuk menjamin kerahasiaan data maka dapat dibuat sistem yang melakukan enkripsi atau pengkodean data sehingga hanya user yang berhak saja yang dapat melihat isi data. Teknik enkripsi atau pengkodean data dapat dikembangkan untuk mendukung penerapan tanda tangan digital. Dengan teknik tanda tangan digital maka suatu data yang telah dikirimkan melalui jaringan internet bisa dipastikan apakah data tersebut telah diubah isinya atau belum dan siapa pengirimnya. Dalam pembuatan tanda tangan digital terdapat beberapa mekanisme pembuatannya. Dalam pembuatan tanda tangan digital ada standar yang disebut digital signature standard (DSS) dan algoritma pembuatan yang dihasilkan sesuai standar yang disebut digital signature Algorithm (DSA) Inti dari mekanisme pembuatan tanda tangan digital adalah penerapan teknik kriptografi dan fungsi hashing. Pada tugas akhir ini akan dibahas teknik pembuatan tanda tangan digital menggunakan mekanisme tanda tangan digital dengan appendix dengan teknik kriptografi menggunakan Diffie Hellman dan fungsi hash Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA)
