  • e mail protocols with perfect forward secrecy
International Journal of Security and Networks, 2012
Co-Authors: Duncan S Wong, Xiaojian Tian
    Abstract:

In IEEE Communication Letters, Kim et al. and Sun et al. proposed several e-mail protocols and claimed that they provide perfect forward secrecy. In this paper, we show that under the assumption that the e-mail Server is also malicious, Kim et al.'s two e-mail protocols do not provide perfect forward secrecy. While one of Sun et al.'s e-mail protocol provides perfect forward secrecy, it does not provide message authentication. We thus propose an improvement to Sun et al.'s e-mail protocol so that it provides both perfect forward secrecy and message authentication.

  • e-mail Server and anti-spam protection
Vysoká škola ekonomická v Praze, 2016
    Co-Authors: Kučera Jan
    Abstract:

This thesis deals with e-mail Server and anti-spam protection. Its content is the presentation of information on various types of spam, anti-spam protection options and principles of e-mail communication. Furthermore, the content of this work is to install and configure e-mail Server and test its anti-spam filters. Test results are compared with the results of the free e-mail inboxes. The main goal is to provide readers with comprehensive information on spam issues, and also helping them when making e-mail Server on their own. Testing anti-spam protection should offer insight on the quality of the chosen solutions for e-mail Server

  • a new protocol of wide use for e mail with perfect forward secrecy
Journal of Zhejiang University Science, 2010
    Co-Authors: Tzungher Chen
    Abstract:

Recently, Sun et al. (2005) highlighted the essential property of perfect forward secrecy (PFS) for e-mail protocols when a higher security level is desirable. Furthermore, Sun et al. (2005)’s protocols take only a single e-mail Server into account. Actually, it is much more common that the sender and the recipient register at different e-mail Servers. Compared to existing protocols, the protocol proposed in this paper takes into account the scenario that the sender and the recipient register at different Servers. The proposed protocol is skillfully designed to achieve PFS and end-to-end security as well as to satisfy the requirements of confidentiality, origin, integrity and easy key management. The comparison in terms of functionality and computational efficiency demonstrates the superiority of the present scheme.

  • spam filtering improvement of an e mail Server by the cooperation of multi filter firewall and virtual networks
international conference on Modelling and simulation, 2007
    Co-Authors: Yingwen Bai, Mingyuan Tsai
    Abstract:

In this paper we propose a new multi-filter firewall method instead of only a single e-mail Server to enhance the efficiency of the processing of spam. The idea of a multi-filter firewall is to combine firewall, mail frontier and mail Server, and with their different functions such as virus scan, anti-spam find, link brush-off in IP blacklist of unwelcome senders to ensure the safety of the mail Server and efficient lift-up. In addition, to estimate system performance, we use a serial equivalent model representing a multi-filter firewall. Due to the use of the multi-filter firewall when processing e-mail our method stops spam by a cooperation method and reduces the workload of the actual mail Server. For the receiving and sending nodes we use a Firewall Virtual Private Network (VPN) to share the loading for mail processing. Because the VPN is not only a virtual private Internet established between two nodes but also the use of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), it is like an interior Internet passing data quickly between two nodes. MPLS supports Multi-Protocol Networks Transfer Protocol and core networks transfer with efficient label switching. MPLS VPN is also compatible with many communication protocols and supports free safety services.
