  • Seismological station CREF of Résif, located in the commune of Crevoux (Hautes-Alpes)
    2018
    Co-Authors: Mickael Langlais
    Abstract:

This image shows the seismological station CREF of the RLBP network (Permanent Broadband Network). This station is located in the commune of Crevoux (Hautes-Alpes). This station is part of the Résif seismological network, it is equipped with a short period velocity meter of the Mark-Product L4C-3D type. This sensor measures the speed of soil movement in the three directions (Vertical, North and East). It is called "short-period" because it detects ground movements in a frequency range from 1Hz to about 50Hz, as opposed to broad band sensors that record ground movements over a period of several tens of seconds or even hundreds of seconds. It is also a "passive" sensor in the sense that it is not Electrically powered, making it more resistant over time but implying that it is less sensitive (about 10 times less) than the powered models. This seismological station was deployed in particular to monitor the seismicity of the "Ubaye" area, which is one of the most active parts of the French Alps. On this picture we can distinguish different elements constituting this seismological station: i) the solar panel allowing to provide the necessary energy for operation, ii) the Electrical Box, located under the solar panel, which contains both the seismological station which converts the signals from the sensor into digital information, as well as the ADSL modem which allows to transmit this "digitized" data in almost real time to the Résif data center, iii) at the top, we also see the concrete manhole which hosts the velocimetric sensor. The data transmitted in real time are accessible to the entire scientific community through the dissemination channels set up in the national Résif data center. The French seismological and geodetic network Résif is a national research infrastructure dedicated to the observation and understanding of the structure and dynamics of the Internal Earth. Résif is based on high-tech observation networks, composed of seismological, geodetic and gravimetric instruments deployed in a dense manner throughout France. The data collected make it possible to study with high spatial and temporal resolution the deformation of the ground, surface and deep structures, seismicity on a local and global scale and natural hazards, and more particularly seismic events, on French territory. Résif is part of the European (EPOS - European Plate Observing System) and global systems of instruments used to image the Earth's interior as a whole and to study many natural phenomena.

  • Installation of the seismological station OGS3 on the top zone of the landslide in Séchilienne (Isère)
    2013
    Co-Authors: Mickael Langlais
    Abstract:

This picture was taken during the installation phase of the seismological station OGS3, located in the Mont-Sec on the plateau overlooking the Séchilienne landslide (Isère). The picture shows a part of the installation in progress. A trench about 2m deep had been made to install the sensors on the bedrock, in a HDPE tank (the black element). In the foreground is the Electrical cabinet containing the equipment dedicated to signal digitisation (Taurus and Trident from Nanometrics) as well as the Electrical Box for the power supply and the 3G modem for transmission. This station is a coupled broadband velocimetry (TrilliumCompact120s-Nanometrics) and accelerometry (Episensor-T Kinemetrics) site. The objective of deploying this site was to i) extend the instrumental coverage of the area in order to better monitor the movements of the landslide and optimise the detection of block falls (velocimeter) but also to be able to record strong movements if necessary and to monitor the evolution of the ground parameters. This site operates autonomously (solar power supply and 3G teletransmission). The station, operated by ISTerre, is integrated into the Multidisciplinary Observatory of Slope Instabilities (OMIV), the Permanent Broadband Network (RLBP) and the Permanent Accelerometric Network (RAP), the latter two of which are part of Résif, a research infrastructure dedicated to the observation and understanding of the internal Earth structure and dynamics. It is based on observation networks of high technological level, composed of seismological, geodetic and gravimetric instruments deployed in a dense manner throughout the French territory. The data collected enable the study, with high spatio-temporal resolution, of ground deformation, surface and deep structures, local and global seismicity and natural hazards, particularly seismic, on French territory. Résif is integrated into the European (EPOS - European plate observatory system) and worldwide systems of instruments that allow us to image the interior of the Earth as a whole and to study numerous natural phenomena.

  • Heat Dissipation from Power Electronic Components and Electrical Enclosures Using the Gravity Loop Heat Pipe
    2020
Co-Authors: Patrik Nemec, Milan Malcho, Maria Polacikova, Jozef Jandačka
    Abstract:

At present, a great accent is placed on the right method of heat dissipation and waste heat recovery. The research work deals with the removal of heat from the internal space of the Electrical Box. Waste heat generated by the operation of Electrical equipment is undesirable for their proper function. The research is focused mainly on the dissipation of Joule’s heat and its use is subject to further investigation. The first part describes various methods of cooling Electrical Boxes and the second part describes our specific method of cooling for Electrical Boxes. The investigated cooling system operates on the principle of a gravity loop thermosiphon. This type of cooling is an energy and structurally simple method because it is based on a phase change of the working substance. Another advantage is the removal of waste heat without contamination of the interior by external dirt and dust. The work results were obtained experimental on the measuring device. The measurements were performed at different heat loads and at different amounts of working substance in the cooling system. The measurement results evaluation and their comparison provide relevant data about the cooling capacity of the cooling system and indicate which working substance volume is effective at various heat load at the same time.

  • Dustproof cooling of the Electrical Box
    EPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Co-Authors: Patrik Nemec, Katarína Kaduchová, Milan Malcho
    Abstract:

In present are Electrical Boxes cooled by air through the intake hole on the bottom Electrical Box to the Box space with electrotechnical elements and exhaust through the hole at the top to the surrounding by natural convection. This cooling method is effective but operate with the risk of contamination electrotechnical elements by dust sucking from surrounding air. The goal of this work is solution of the dustproof cooling of the Electrical Box by natural convection. The work deal with design of the device with the heat transfer by the phase change of the working fluid and experimental measuring its thermal performance at the cooling electrotechnical elements loaded by heat 1 200 W in the dustproof Electrical Box.
