  • Aging Estimation Method for Lead-Acid Battery
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2011
    Co-Authors: Yu-hua Sun, Hurng-liahng Jou
    Abstract:

In this paper, an aging Estimation Method is proposed for the lead-acid batteries serially connected in a string. This Method can prevent the potential battery failure and guarantee the battery availability, and it can serve as an indicator for aging or degradation of the lead-acid battery. The salient feature of the proposed Method is that aging of the individual battery is estimated automatically at the end of each discharge cycle by only measuring individual battery voltage in a string of batteries, so that no complicated measurement is required. To verify the proposed aging Estimation Method, aging experiments for lead-acid batteries are developed. The experimental results show that the proposed aging Estimation Method provides the expected results.

  • Multilevel Peukert equations based residual capacity Estimation Method for lead-acid battery
2008 IEEE International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies, 2008
    Co-Authors: Yu-hua Sun, Hurng-liahng Jou
    Abstract:

In this paper, a residual capacity Estimation Method based on the multilevel Peukert equations is proposed for the lead-acid battery. Multilevel Peukert equations and ampere hour accumulation are used in this paper to estimate residual capacity of the battery, and several Peukert equations are used for different range of discharge current to improve the accuracy of the conventional Peukert Methods. The residual capacity of the battery is estimated during each discharge cycle by measuring the battery voltage and current. The salient features of the proposed Method are that no complicated measurement is required in the proposed residual capacity Estimation Method. To verify the proposed residual capacity Estimation Method, experiments for lead-acid batteries are developed. The experimental results show that the proposed residual capacity Estimation Method provides the expected results.

  • new simple capacity Estimation Method for multiuser block diagonalization transmission
    Vehicular Technology Conference, 2007
Co-Authors: Riichi Kudo, Y Takatori, Atsushi Ohta, K Nishimori, Shuji Kubota
    Abstract:

The multiple input multiple output (MIMO) technique enables the application of spatial multiplexing as a way of increasing the spectrum efficiency. However, only a few antenna branches are allowed at a simple mobile terminal (MT) and the MIMO effect is limited for those MTs. Multiuser (MU)-MIMO techniques were proposed to support such simple terminals to overcome such problems. Among them, the block diagonalization algorithm is well known as a practical linear precoding technique for downlink in the MU-MIMO systems. Because the number of users supported by the access point is limited and the improvement in the spectrum efficiency greatly depends on the combination of spatially multiplexed user, a simple transmission performance Estimation Method is needed. In this paper, we propose a new capacity Estimation Method for MU-MIMO systems. The proposed Method estimates the achievable bit rate in MU-MIMO while significantly reducing the calculation load compared to that for direct Estimation in the block diagonalization algorithm. Theoretical analysis and the simulation results confirm the validity of the proposed Method.

  • A DOA Estimation Method Based on Secondary Array Combination
    Aerospace Shanghai, 2011
    Co-Authors: Tang Bin
    Abstract:

A direction-of-arrival spectrum Estimation Method based on the secondary array combination was proposed in this paper.Using the overlap subarrays set in the array, the pattern of the subarray for the specified spatial region was designed to filter the spatial jamming signals and increase the signal interfere noise ratio(SINR) for the desired signal.Based on the locations of the subarrays, the array was secondarily combinated, and the direction-of-arrivals were estimated with the outputs of the subarrays using the spatial spectrum Estimation Method in the desired spatial regions. The simulation results showed that the DOA Estimation Method based on the secondary array combination had decreased the influence to the DOA Estimation by the jamming and noise signals, and the estimate accuracy and the anti-jamming ability achieved in the complicated electromagnetic environment were better than regular spatial spectrum Estimation Method.

  • A Spatial Spectrum Estimation Method Based on the Spatial Filtering Approach
    Signal Processing, 2010
    Co-Authors: Tang Bin
    Abstract:

The paper has proposed a spatial spectrum Estimation Method based on the spatial filtering approach. After the overlap subarrays are set in the array, the spatial jamming signals have been filtered and restrained using the adaptive beam formed by the subarray and the SINR is increased for the desired signal.Based on the secondary combination of the subarrays, the direction-of-arrivals are estimated with the outputs of the subarrays and the locations of the subarrays using the spatial spectrum Estimation Method in the desired spatial regions.Simulation results show the spatial spectrum Estimation Method based on the spatial filtering approach has improved the electromagnetic environment for the desired signal and the estimate accuracy and the anti-jamming ability achieved are better than regular spatial spectrum Estimation Method.
