Widget Description Exchange Service (WIDEX) Requirements
2007Co-Authors: Dave Raggett, Vlad StirbuAbstract:This document defines functional requirements for a framework and a protocol used to support XML-based user interfaces, where the user interface and application logic may be on different machines, and coupled via an Exchange of XML DOM events and update/mutation operations.

Excitons in topological Kondo insulators: Theory of thermodynamic and transport anomalies in SmB$_{6}$
'Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD)', 2017Co-Authors: Knolle Johannes, Coope NigelAbstract:Kondo insulating materials lie outside the usual dichotomy of weakly versus correlated-band versus Mott-insulators. They are metallic at high temperatures but resemble band insulators at low temperatures because of the opening of an interaction-induced band gap. The first discovered Kondo insulator (KI) SmB$_{6}$ has been predicted to form a topological KI (TKI). However, since its discovery thermodynamic and transport anomalies have been observed that have defied a theoretical explanation. Enigmatic signatures of collective modes inside the charge gap are seen in specific heat, thermal transport, and quantum oscillation experiments in strong magnetic fields. Here, we show that TKIs are susceptible to the formation of excitons and magnetoexcitons. These charge neutral composite particles can account for long-standing anomalies in SmB$_{6}$.The work is supported by a fellowship within the postdoctoral program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and by the EPSRC Grant No. EP/J017639/1

The Specifications Exchange Service of an RM-ODP Framework
2000Co-Authors: Xavier Blanc, Marie-pierre Gervais, Raymonde Le DelliouAbstract:LIP6 and EDF have started to develop an RM-ODP framework for building open distributed systems. The first concern of this development was the construction of the Specification Exchange Service. This Service, the so-called Backbone, enables to Exchange RM-ODP specifications over any ORB or file system. This article presents the functionalities of the Backbone in the RM-ODP framework and its explains how meta-modeling standards such as MOF and XMI have been used to create it.
