gamma knife radiosurgery for choroidal haemangiomas with extensive Exudative Retinal Detachment
British Journal of Ophthalmology, 2009Co-Authors: Won Kyung Song, Suk Ho Byeon, Sung Soo Kim, Oh Woong Kwon, Sung Chul LeeAbstract:Choroidal haemangioma (CH) is a benign vascular tumour. CH that produces visual symptoms due to subRetinal fluid has been treated with cryotherapy, diathermy, photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy (PDT), transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT) and various radiation therapies. However, extensive Exudative Retinal Detachment is challenging to treat. Previous reports utilising gamma knife radiosurgery (GKR) in CHs are scarce.1 2 We present our results of GKR on CH with extensive Exudative Retinal Detachment (RD). The medical records of three consecutive CH patients with decreased visual acuity due to extensive Exudative RD involving more than two quadrants, treated with GKR, were retrospectively reviewed. GKR was performed as a secondary treatment after the aggravation of Exudative RD following a single session of transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT). Table 1 lists the basic characteristics of the patients. The mean age of the patients was 38.3 years …

massive Exudative Retinal Detachment following photodynamic therapy for Retinal hemangioma in von hippel lindau syndrome
Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy, 2014Co-Authors: Yao Chen, Hong Liu, Kun Zhang, Ling GaoAbstract:Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a common treatment on Retinal capillary hemangioma. We applied PDT to a patient with von Hippel-Lindau(VHL) syndrome and she developed severe massive Exudative Retinal Detachment the next day, which is a rare complication for PDT. After intraocular anti-VEGF agent and peribulbar dexamethasone several times to the patient, her subRetinal fluid disappeared and hemangiomas atrophied. Treatment with Anti-VEGF agent and corticosteroid is effective for such complication.

bilateral Exudative Retinal Detachment in a patient with end stage renal disease a case report
Ophthalmology, 2019Co-Authors: Dorota Borowicz, Marta Bielecka, Tomasz Wojda, Waldemar Kedziora, Katarzyna Biela, Monika Szyport, Katarzyna Nowomiejska, Robert RejdakAbstract:End-stage renal disease (ESRD) is one of the most severe chronic kidney diseases occurring with a frequency of 0.1% in the general population. Patients with ESRD are more at risk of ocular complications, therefore cooperation between a nephrologist and an ophthalmologist is recommended. The most common complaints associated with the eye include the conjunctival chemosis, keratopathy, macular edema, optic neuropathy, elevated intraocular pressure and Exudative Retinal Detachment. In this article, a case report of bilateral Exudative Retinal Detachment in patients with the end-stage renal disease is presented.

diffuse choroidal hemangioma associated with Exudative Retinal Detachment in a sturge weber syndrome case photodynamic therapy and intravitreous bevacizumab
Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy, 2015Co-Authors: Edwin Javier Anayapava, Carlos Humberto Saenzbocanegra, Alejandro Florestrejo, Norma Aide CastrosantanaAbstract:Summary We report the case of a young female patient with a diffuse choroidal hemangioma (DCH) and glaucoma as part of Sturge–Weber syndrome (SWS) and symptomatic Retinal Detachment that was treated successfully with photodynamic therapy (PDT) and intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB). The patient was treated with a single session of PDT, a 689-nm laser was used to deliver 50 J/cm 2 with a maximum spot size of 6400 μm, for 166 s. IVB was administered 3 days later. The Exudative Retinal Detachment (ERD), macular edema and visual acuity improved one week after treatment. The patient was followed for 18 months with no recurrence of ERD, and her visual acuity was preserved. PDT followed by IVB may be an effective treatment option for visual deterioration due to ERD in patients with DCHs, as are found in SWS.

intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide as treatment for extensive Exudative Retinal Detachment
British Journal of Ophthalmology, 2004Co-Authors: J B JonasAbstract:Coats’ disease or entities like Coats’ disease are characterised by a marked Exudative Retinal Detachment with leakage of peripheral Retinal vessels, pronounced subRetinal deposition of lipids, and eventual progression to total Retinal Detachment. In some situations, iris neovascularisation can occur, suggesting an angiogenetic component in the course of the disease. In view of the subRetinal exudation from the leaking Retinal vessels and the possibly neovascular aspect in the disease process, the purpose of this study was to evaluate whether intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide may be helpful in the treatment of Coats’ like diseases. Intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide has recently been shown to have a pronounced anti-oedematous and possibly anti-angiogenic effect in diseases such as diffuse diabetic macular oedema, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, chronic pre-phthisical ocular …
