Textile Research Journal, 2019Co-Authors: Bin-gang XuAbstract:This paper experimentally studies the relationship between the friction surface of a False-twisting unit and the quality of cotton yarns produced by a modified ring spinning system, with the adoption of the single friction-belt False-Twister. The friction surface of the False-twisting unit, as a key twisting component, has been studied in terms of material, surface roughness, hardness and diameter, as well as the interaction between these factors and resultant yarn properties, with particular attention to yarn imperfections. Experimental results showed that the False-twisting unit with a short interactive path demonstrated significant reduction of yarn imperfections, especially yarn neps. With the optimal False-twisting unit, performances of the modified yarns and their knitted fabrics were evaluated and compared with the conventional ones.

Textile Research Journal, 2007Co-Authors: Kun Yang, Bin-gang XuAbstract:Low twist singles ring yarns are desirable for their low residual torque, high bulk and softness, as well as high spinning productivity. However, conventional low twist ring yarns have very low strength and, thus, cannot be used. In this paper, a modification technique is described for producing singles ring yarns with a low twist and a relatively high strength simultaneously. A False Twister was used to increase fiber migration and entanglement in the spinning triangle, leading to a reinforcement of yarn strength. The yarn cross sectional structure, fiber path and yarn surface were examined and yarn tensile and torsional properties were evaluated. The results revealed that the modified yarn had a structure and properties different from the conventional ring spun yarns. The fiber path modification was kept in the resultant yarn.

Optimization of gauge and structural parameters of False Twister of False-twist compact spinning method
Textile Research Journal, 2020Co-Authors: Yu WeidongAbstract:In order to have a clear understanding of the function of the False Twister used in the False-twist compact spinning method,the response surface methodology was used to study the influences of the gauge and structural parameters of the False Twister on the properties of resultant yarns.Afterwards,the optimal parameter settings were found by employing the desirability function approach.The results showed that yarn evenness was mostly affected by the minimum curvature radius of the False-twist channel,while the rotational speed ratio of False Twister and minimum curvature radius have remarkable influences on yarn hairiness index.All of the three parameters under investigation have certain effects on the breaking strength and breaking elongation of yarns.The optimization result indicated that when the rotational speed ratio is 0.367-0.374,the gauge of the False Twister is set as 11 mm and the minimum curvature radius of the False-twist channel is 18.2-18.3 mm,the resultant yarns will have a relatively better quality.

Analysis on basic parameters of False-twist compact spinning
Textile Research Journal, 2020Co-Authors: Yu WeidongAbstract:The False-twist compact spinning method was suggested to improve the quality of ring spun cotton yarn.A series of spinning experiments were conducted to investigate the influences of drafting systems,rotational speed ratio and rotational direction of the False Twister on yarn evenness,hairiness index,breaking strength and breaking elongation.The results showed that the yarns produced on the double-apron drafting system have better quality than those produced on the simple three-roller drafting system.The rotational direction should be adjusted according to the twist direction of the roving.The twist direction of the roving used in the experiment is Z twist,so the rotational direction should be counterclockwise.The experiment results also indicated that the rotational speed ratio is governed by other spinning parameters.When the rotational direction of the False Twister is counterclockwise,the optimum rotational speed ratio is 0.36.When the False Twister runs clockwise,the rotational speed ratio should be higher to improve yarn quality.

However, our investigation shows that a high level of False twist can sig nificantly influence yarn appearance and mechanical properties. Wrap yarn spun with a False Twister has a tortuous structure, while wrap yarn spun without a False Twister is smooth. Compared with equivalent zero False twist wrap yarns, False twist wrap yarns display a similar twist-strength relationship, but lower moduli and bending rig idities at increased wrap twist. Twist contraction of the yam core during initial wrapping is the primary cause for the tortuous structure of the False twist wrap yarns. When a False Twister is used, the yarn core first contracts under False twist, and at the same time is wrapped with a low wrap twist because of the difference in rotational speed between the wrapper balloon and the yarn core. Application of the False Twister in the Ring Frame
Textile Accessories, 2020Co-Authors: Yang Jian-chengAbstract:In order to solve the problem of the moment residue on the single yarn produced by the ring frame,an idea is put forth that addition of the new False Twister is necessary between the yarn guide and the front roller of the ring frame.The desired new False Twister spinning technology can both upgrade prodction and reduce end breakage.The modified ring frame can produce yarn with low twist,high stength,less moment residue and special feel as well as small skew.Conclusion is made that the new technology supersedes the conventional spinning technology with marked edge in tech-modification,yarn forming specification,and cloth fabrication as well as low carbon orientation,whereas,the technology is of new designed equipment,its growth is restricted by fund,False twisting parts.
