a rfid case based sample management system for Fashion Product development
Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, 2009Co-Authors: K L Choy, Ka Ho Chow, Ka Leung Moon, Xin Zeng, Henry C W Lau, Felix T S ChanAbstract:This paper presents a RFID-case-based sample management system (R-SMS) to manage an iterative process for evaluating fabric swatches in the development of new Fashion Products. R-SMS supports Fashion designers and clothing merchandisers in working out the best way to fabricate their new collections and to expedite the Product development process. This study attempts to use a case-based reasoning (CBR) technique to solve problems of fabric selection. In addition, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is incorporated in the system to provide real-time swatches tracking and accurate fabric status updates within a fabric sample storeroom. The outcomes of this study provide Fashion designers and merchandisers with appropriate fabric knowledge, enabling them to select the most appropriate fabric or fabric combination effectively and efficiently for new Products; in turn, to enhance a garment enterprise's overall competency in managing its fabric resources.

a two period pricing model for new Fashion style launching strategy
International Journal of Production Economics, 2015Co-Authors: Erfeng Zhou, Juzhi Zhang, Qinglong Gou, Liang LiangAbstract:There is a trend in Fashion Product industry that firms launch new styles of their Products more frequently. To investigate the optimal style launching strategy for a Fashion firm, we propose a two-period pricing model for a Fashion Product firm. The firm sells a style of Products in the first period as well as that he may utilize three different strategies in the second period, i.e., (i) the N-Strategy: the firm does not launch a new style; (ii) the S-Strategy: the firm launches a new style and stops selling the previous one immediately; and (iii) the D-Strategy: the firm sells the new and old style simultaneously in the second period. Different from previous literatures, we incorporate the satiation effect of consumers in our model and try to analyze its impacts on the Fashion firm׳s new Product launching strategy. Specifically, we assume that a consumer occurs a certain mental book value cost x if he/she has already purchased a previous style of the same brand. Our main work is to illustrate in what condition and which one of the three strategies mentioned above is the firm׳s best choice, as well as the firm׳s best optimal retail prices over the two periods under them. Results show that a Fashion firm׳s optimal launching strategy is mainly determined by the Production cost and the consumer׳s mental book value. In detail, (i) when the consumer׳s mental book value and/or the Production cost are relatively high, N-Strategy is the firm׳s optimal choice; (ii) when the consumer׳s mental book value is low and the Production cost is high, S-Strategy is the best strategy; and (iii) when both the consumer׳s mental book value and the Production cost are relatively low, the D-Strategy dominates the other two.

governance of sustainable supply chains in the fast Fashion industry
European Management Journal, 2014Co-Authors: Y Li, Xiukun Zhao, Dan Shi, Xiang LiAbstract:Abstract This paper examines the impact of corporate social responsibility behavior on the sustainability performance of focal companies and their partners in fast Fashion supply chains. The attributes of sustainability and the mechanism of sustainability governance of the fast Fashion supply chain are also discussed. From the perspective of strategic corporate social responsibility, we first analyze the motives for adopting sustainability governance in fast Fashion supply chains, and identify seven competitive sustainable attributes of the fast Fashion Product based on sustainable development theory. Then, by establishing a sustainability governance framework, we identify seven factors that affect the sustainability governance decision-making and evaluate the efficiency and legitimacy mechanism of sustainability governance from internal and external perspectives. Finally, we explore the application of the governance mechanisms via a case study based on H&M’s seven sustainability commitments. The findings suggest that the core influence and centrality of a corporation should be strengthened from the perspective of internal governance, and stakeholders should collaborate to achieve sustainability governance throughout the entire fast Fashion supply chain from the perspective of external governance.

This research is the result of the work of the Research Group “Fashion of the textile chain,” according to the record of the Directory CNPq Research Groups. The Fashion Product has specific features offered by design which gives, through creation, a style whose purpose is to satisfy the desire for a particular target audience. Today Fashion can be considered democratic, since the consumer audience is the star in making decisions about what should be produced. Every season Fashion has to present a wide variety of innovations in their shapes, colors, materials and textures, enabling brands producing Fashion garments to reach different target audiences to meet the wishes of both the most daring and innovative and the more conservative. The Fashion Product has to meet a market demand that seeks highly diversified Products and with a high level of differentiation. The Postponement is a term that defines the decision to postpone the final stages of the Production process for several reasons. It can be used in FRM as a strategy to increase the rate of Product differentiation, as determined by consumer demand Fashion.Esta pesquisa é o resultado do trabalho do Grupo de Pesquisa A moda da cadeia têxtil, segundo o registro do Diretório dos Grupos de Pesquisa CNPQ. bi level programming model of fast Fashion Product logistics network under pre sale strategy
Journal of Computer Applications, 2012Co-Authors: L I GuoqiAbstract:To solve the location-allocation problem of logistics network with respect to fast Fashion Products under a pre-sale strategy,a bi-level programming model capturing the behaviors of online retailers and customers was proposed to minimize a total cost arising in the service of the logistics network.Common interests of the online retailer and the customer were considered synthetically.According to the characteristics of proposed model,an interactive fuzzy algorithm was adopted to determine locations, allocations, service plans of warehouse and third-party logistics enterprises.A case study was conducted to validate the feasibility of the proposed model and algorithm. The results reveal that the central warehouse should be located in a place close to areas of dense demand and the online retailers should provide a small amount of third-party logistics enterprices for customer selection.
