But the empress has no clothes : some awkward questions about the missing the 'missing revolution' in Feminist Theory.
2000Co-Authors: Elizabeth Stanley, Sue WiseAbstract:Who owns Feminist Theory? and just what is meant by the idea of 'Theory'? We explore these fundamental questions as part of interrogating some emergent orthodoxies about Feminist Theory, proposing that there is a 'missing revolution' in Feminist thinking, for while ideas about Feminist epistemology, methodology and ethics have been fundamentally reworked, those concerning Feminist Theory have not. Our purpose is to stimulate a debate about the form of Feminist Theory, rather than the more usual controversies about its content; and thus our concern is with promoting the development of Feminist meta-Theory. We argue that the now-dominant version of Feminist Theory is a parallel project to that of mainstream/malestream social Theory, and that a Feminist autocritique of this and related developments is needed, with the aim of achieving a transformation of the fundamental categories of Feminist Theory.

Urban Education, 2000Co-Authors: Yoshiko NozakiAbstract:In this piece, the author discusses recent Feminist Theory, in particular Feminist Theory of cyborg identity, and examines some media representations of a woman-of-color superintendent. It is suggested that the cyborg image offers alternative ways to consider the issue of diversity and educational leadership, including the superintendency.

neoliberalism welfare policy and Feminist theories of social justice Feminist Theory special issue Feminist Theory and welfare
Feminist Theory, 2008Co-Authors: Anna Marie SmithAbstract:An overview of the Feminist Theory literature on welfare policy and politics is presented. This introductory essay places a particular emphasis on the works that fall within the political sociology and normative political philosophy genres. In a lengthy digression, the article offers a tribute to the work of Iris Marion Young. It examines the centrality of her thinking about distribution, cultural marginalization, the welfare state bureaucracy, transnational responsibility and solidarity, and the pitfalls of maternalist discourse for this field. In the conclusion, the article makes brief remarks about each of the contributions to the special issue on Feminist Theory and Welfare.
