The implication of green Fertilizer Technology (GFT) is the need for the modern development of environmentally friendly Technology, also to increase the production level among all the agriculture crops. It is especially needed for paddy production, as it has always been considered as an important commodity because it is the main staple food for the nation. Paddy production in Malaysia using GFT allows for sustainable development and boosts the yield. Nevertheless, the adoption rate of GFT is unsatisfactory in most of the developing countries, including in Malaysia. The fact that the cost of production is considerably higher results in low-level perception regarding the adoption of GFT. Hence, the integration of communication and Technology factors could become one of the main elements for the further development of the paddy sector in Malaysia. The overall objective of this research study will identify the factors that determine paddy farmer's adoption decision on GFT in Malaysia. To do so, a literature review was compiled on the topic of agriculture innovation-based adoption decision theories such as Diffusion of innovation (DOI), Theory of reasoned action (TRA), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Technology acceptance model (TAM) and communication channels to study paddy farmers' adoption decision of GFT. The results of the review revealed that this framework highlights adoption as an intricate behavior, interweaving aspects such as communication channels, socio-psychological and innovation attribute considerations. The conceptual framework illuminates the decision towards adoption as a self-motivated process, assumes a composite interaction among groups of variables coming from two different theories. The combination of DOI, TRA, TPB, TAM and communication channels overcome some limitations that arise when the only theory is used to examine the adoption decision among paddy farmers in Malaysia. Correspondingly, there has been limited empirical research done on the decision of adoption toward GFT use among paddy farmers in Malaysia.

The idea behind this study is to transfer knowledge to paddy farmers within regional areas of Malaysia and to comprehend their understanding of social innovation and sustainable agriculture engineering and their overall significance. The outcome of this research will suggest a strategic extensive plan to encourage the use of SAP and also help to develop SAP helping toward building a sustainable society. Design/methodology/approach This paper encompasses three phases: analyzing the process of SAP among Malaysian Paddy farmers, to agricultural industrialization, until the stage of SAP led by farmer’s co-operatives, discussing the relevant practice together with literature and historically evidencing that there is no better way to promote SAP among regional paddy farmers within Malaysia. Findings Initial objective of this paper is to establish a thoughtful approach to enable the society to bridge a gap between embracing sustainability. The second objective investigates the misconception among farmers about social innovation. Furthermore, the study builds the conceptual framework and examines the relationship among the relevant constructs, this framework is critically examining the literature within paddy farming context. Harmoniously, there has been limited empirical research performed on the decision of adoption toward SAP usage among paddy farmers in Malaysia. Originality/value The clear worth of this research paper is the illustration from past reviews and practices to endorse SAP usage among paddy farmers in Malaysia. Another literature review suggests that these countermeasures comprehensively, historically, and theoretically are proven result oriented. The information about SAP will be beneficial for farmers and policy maker who are interested in the advancement. This learning delivers a comparative summary of knowledge transfer influencing farmer’s intention and behavior of sustainable agriculture engineering to adopt green Technology. In a future study, these construct will be empirically tested.

The application of GFT in the modern agricultural industry is highly needed for food security in many developing nations, including Malaysia. The Malaysian government focuses more on paddy over other different essential crops for the implication of GFT because paddy has always been considered as the main commodity and the staple food crops for the country. Whereas, Malaysia needs to be self-sufficient because the nation produces nearly 72% of the paddy whilst the rest needs to be imported from other countries. Paddy yield in Malaysia is still lower than those other commodities under comparable conditions. Therefore, the production cost is significantly higher which results in a low perception about the adoption decision of GFT. Paddy production in Malaysia using GFT potentially allows for sustainable development and helps farmers to increase the yield. The foremost role of paddy farmers is to deliver sufficient food supply to the country. However, paddy farmers have largely managed their business by using traditional methods of farming with an outcome that is near to halting the productivity and farming income. Whilst, the Malaysian government, extension services, and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) stimulate paddy farmers to use GFT, which increases productivity without damaging the environment. This particular research focuses on the conceptual framework grounded on the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), and Expected Utility Theory (EUT) in order to study the adoption decision of GFT amongst the Malaysian paddy farmers. This conceptual framework elucidates the adoption decisions by means of a self-motivated process, presuming a composite interaction group of a variable which came from all these three different theories. The combination of the TPB, TRA, and EUT overcomes some limitations that ascend when just one theory is used to examine the adoption decision amongst paddy farmers in Malaysia. Gliricidia agroforestry Technology adoption potential in selected dryland areas of Dodoma region, Tanzania

A.Abstract:Article 2020Declining soil fertility is one of the major problems facing producers of field crops in most dryland areas of Sub-Saharan Africa. In response to the declining soil fertility, extensive participatory research has been undertaken by the World Agroforestry (ICRAF) and smallholder farmers in Dodoma region, Tanzania. The research has, amongst others, led to the development of Gliricidia agroforestry Technology. The positive impact of Gliricidia intercropping on crop yields has been established. However, information on farmers’ willingness and ability to adopt the Gliricidia agroforestry Technology on their farms is limited. This study predicts the adoption of Gliricidia agroforestry and conventional mineral Fertilizer use Technology. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were conducted with groups of farmers, purposively selected based on five sets of criteria: (i) at least 2 years of experience in either trying or using Gliricidia agroforestry Technology, (ii) at least 1 year of experience in either trying or using the mineral Fertilizer Technology (iii) at least 10 years of living in the study villages, (iv) the age of 18 years and above, and (v) sex. The Adoption and Diffusion Outcome Prediction Tool (ADOPT) was used to predict the peak adoption levels and the respective time in years. A sensitivity analysis was conducted to assess the effect of change in adoption variables on predicted peak adoption levels and time to peak adoption. The results revealed variations in peak adoption levels with Gliricidia agroforestry Technology exhibiting the highest peak of 67.6% in 12 years, and that the most influential variable to the peak adoption is the upfront cost of investing in Gliricidia agroforestry and Fertilizer technologies. However, in Gliricidia agroforestry Technology most production costs are incurred in the first year of project establishment but impact the long term biophysical and economic benefits. Moreover, farmers practicing agroforestry Technology accrue environmental benefits, such as soil erosion control. Based on the results, it is plausible to argue that Gliricidia agroforestry Technology has a high adoption potential and its adoption is influenced by investment costs. We recommend two actions to attract smallholder farmers investing in agroforestry technologies. First, enhancing farmers’ access to inputs at affordable prices. Second, raising farmers’ awareness of the long-term environmental benefits of Gliricidia agroforestry Technology
