    Abstract:

    Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho é a análise do comportamento de um reservatório de gás em solução, submetido ao mecanismo de segregação gravitacional, durante a fase de recuperação primária. O sistema físico contempla a análise bidimensional de um reservatório cilíndrico, com o poço no centro, produzindo da porção inferior do mesmo. Foi analisado o fluxo de óleo e gás na presença de água conata imóvel. Efeitos capilares são desprezados e efeitos gravitacionais são considerados. O fluido pode ser descrito pelo modelo Beta. Resultados são gerados por um simulador comercial totalmente impléito. Essencialmente, este estudo é uma analogia dos trabalhos de Serra, Chen e Poston e Lima, com maior enfoque nos aspectos de segregação gravitacional. Aspectos do comportamento de reservatórios submetidos à segregação gravitacional, são mostrados, com análise acerca de alguns parâmetros que a controlam. Dentro de algumas limitações, o uso de pseudo-funções nas equações de fluxo multifásico, leva a formas lineares, análogas à solução do líquido de baixa compressibilidade e propriedades constantes. Fazendo uso destas definições e hipóteses acopladas às curvas tipo de Fetkovich, comparações são feitas quando da obtenção de parâmetros do reservatório, para as análises com e sem o uso das pseudo-funções. Os resultados obtidos mostram que o uso das pseudo-funções reduzem bastante as não linear idades presentes nas equações de fluxo multifásicoAbstract: The main purpose of this work is to study the behavior of a solution - gas reservoir under a gas-cap drive during natural depletion. The physical system consists of a two-dimensional cylindrical reservoir, with a well at the center, producing from its lower portion. We consider the flow of oi! and gas in the presence of gravitacional effects. Capillary effects are negleted. Thé fluid behavior can be described by the Black-Oil model (13 - model). Results are generated from a commercial multipurpose reservoir simulator. Essentially, this work is similar the ones developed by Serra, Chen and Poston and Lima, but with more emphasys to gravity segregation in two-dimensional flow. Aspects of the behavior of reservoirs under gravity segregation are shown, with some analysis of the parameters which control the mecanism.Under certain conditions the use of pseudo-functions in the multiphase flow equations, give linear aspects similar to the solution of low compressibility liquid. Using these approaches and definitions and the type curve of Fetkovich, comparisions are made to obtaining reservoirs parameters, with and without the use of pseudo- function

  • Permeability-Thickness Determination from Transient Production Response at the Southeast Geysers

    The Fetkovich production decline curve analysis method was extended for application to vapor-dominated geothermal reser-voirs for the purpose of estimating the permeability-thickness product (kh) from the transient production response. The ana-lytic dimensionless terms for pressure, production rate, decline rate, and decline time were derived for saturated steam using the real gas potential and customary geothermal production units of pounds-mass per hour. The derived terms were numer-ically validated using “Geysers-like ” reservoir properties at ini-tial water saturation of 0 and at permeabilities of 1,10, and 100 mD. The production data for 48 wells in the Southeast Geysers were analyzed and the permeability-thickness products deter-mined from the transient production response using the Fetkov-ich production decline type curve. The kh results were in very good agreement with the published range at the Southeast Gey-sers and show regions of high permeability-thickness

    This thesis presents the characterization of the Upper and Lower Repetto reservoirs of the Santa Clara field, which lies seven miles offshore of Ventura County, California. The approaches that we adopted for this reservoir characterization are based on the analysis of field production data. These reservoir characterization approaches include: The application of the Fetkovich/McCray decline type curve to estimate original oil-in-place, drainage area, flow capacity, and a skin factor for each well. This approach requires converting the field production data for each well to dimensionless decline flowrate, dimensionless rate integral, and dimensionless rate integral-derivative functions. These functions are then simultaneously plotted against dimensionless decline time so that a unique match of these plots can be obtained using the Fetkovich/McCray decline type curve (in this research, data conversion and type curve matching are performed using a software package). The analysis of plots of reciprocal production rate versus material balance time to estimate "movable" or recoverable oil reserves. This new material balance approach is used in conjunction with a semi-analytical method of graphical analysis (pressure drop normalized rate versus cumulative oil production), which also provides estimates of recoverable oil reserves. Together, these plotting techniques provide good estimates of the estimated ultimate recovery for each well. Our approaches for the analysis of field production data allow us to provide recovery factors for each well (using our estimates of original oil-in-place and estimated ultimate recovery). Furthermore, we were able to generate maps of original oil-in-place, estimated ultimate recovery, flow capacity, and permeability for both the Upper and Lower Repetto reservoirs.
