near mean motion resonance of terrestrial planet pair induced by giant planet application to kepler 68 system
Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2020Co-Authors: Mengrui Pan, Su WangAbstract:In this work, we investigate Configuration formation of two inner terrestrial planets near mean motion resonance (MMRs) induced by the perturbation of a distant gas-giant for the Kepler-68 system, by conducting thousands of numerical simulations. The results show that the formation of terrestrial planets is relevant to the speed of Type I migration, the mass of planets, and the existence of giant planet. The mass and eccentricity of the giant planet may play a crucial role in shaping the Final Configuration of the system. The inner planet pair can be trapped in 5:3 or 7:4 MMRs if the giant planet revolves the central star with an eccentric orbit, which is similar to the observed Configuration of Kepler-68. Moreover, we find that the eccentricity of the middle planet can be excited to roughly 0.2 if the giant planet is more massive than 5 $M_J$,otherwise the terrestrial planets are inclined to remain near-circular orbits. Our study may provide a likely formation scenario for the planetary systems that harbor several terrestrial planets near MMRs inside and one gas-giant exterior to them.

finite element analysis of multi stage deep drawing process for high precision rectangular case with extreme aspect ratio
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2002Co-Authors: Woojin Song, Beomsoo Kang, Sangmoon HwangAbstract:Abstract Deep drawing process for rectangular drawn section is different with that for axisymmetric circular one. Therefore deep drawing process for rectangular drawn section requires several intermediate steps to generate the Final Configuration without any significant defect. In this study, finite element analysis for multi-stage deep drawing process for high-precision rectangular cases is carried out especially for an extreme aspect ratio. The results of analysis show that the irregular contact condition between blank and die affects the occurrence of failure, and the difference of aspect ratio in the drawn section leads to non-uniform metal flow, which may cause failure. A series of experiments for multi-stage deep drawing process for the rectangular cases are conducted, and the deformation Configuration and the thickness distribution of the drawn rectangular cases are investigated by comparing with the results of the numerical analysis. The numerical analysis with an explicit time integration scheme shows good agreement with the experimental observation.

a study on initial blank design to minimize earing in multi stage deep drawing process for rectangular cup using high strength steel material
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Co-Authors: Pan Liu, Beomsoo KangAbstract:Multi-stage deep drawing process for rectangular cups with extreme aspect ratio using finite element analysis is performed. The process is mainly consists of four forming stages including blanking, drawing, ironing and trimming. However, main deformation of the rectangular cup is completed during the drawing-ironing procedure. Tool design and blank modification for the multi-stage deep drawing process are presented. To consider the deep drawing and the ironing operations, the multi-stage deep drawing process is applied to obtain the rectangular cup by using each numerical simulation models from first to fifth drawing. Based on the design results of the initial blank, the multi-stage deep drawing process is performed, but it is shown that severe earing phenomenon is occurred at the upper flange part. To solve the severe deformation at the upper flange due to normal anisotropy of the used sheet material, initial blank modification is carried out. The simulation results for the rectangular cup are compared with the Final Configuration before and after the modification of the blank shape. The predicted result is confirmed that the modified blank shape not only improve the quality of a deep-drawn product but also reduce the cost of production.
