Forecast model for stitch length of rib fabric on Flat Bed Machine
Textile Research Journal, 2020Co-Authors: Xu YanhuaAbstract:A forecast model for the stitch length of rib fabric was established based on observation of the knitting process of rib fabric on the Flat Bed Machine and certain assumptions through analysis and deduction.Feasibility of the model was verified by the comparison between the measured and predicted stitch length of the rib fabric knitted under preset conditions. The results revealed that the stitch length of rib fabrics showed a good linear relationship, respectively, with press depth and needle Bed gap.According to the model, scale of the stitch cam on the Flat Bed Machine head can be reset, the problem that the scale is not consistent with the needle depth is solved, the corresponding relation between the stitch length of the rib fabrics with the press depth and needle Bed gap, respectively,is established, which is convenient for production control, can quickly determine the stitch length, and provides a basis for yarn budget and cost accounting.

Effect of Stitch Length on the Physical Properties of Both Plain and 1 X 1 Rib Knitted Fabrics
Journal of Textile Science & Engineering, 2014Co-Authors: S. I. Ichetaonye, D. N. Ichetaonye, O. G. Tenebe, M. E. Yibowei, Dawodu OhAbstract:The Effect of the Stitch length on the properties of plain and 1x1 rib knitted fabric was carried out. Fabrics with various stitch length determined by the stitch dial at 4, 6, 8 and 10 were knitted using the Flat Bed Machine for plain knitted fabric and the v-Bed Machine for 1x1 rib knitted fabric separately. The knitted fabrics with stitch length (Plain) 0.67 cm, 0.84 cm, 0.86 cm, 0.94 cm and also (1×1 Rib) 0.8 cm, 1.04 cm, 1.06 cm and 1.08 cm were tested separately for linear density, weight, tightness factor, thickness factor, elastica factor and stitch density of the fabric and the results show that significantly they differ. The results show that the higher the stitch length the more loose the loops hence the structure of the fabric and the shorter the stitch length the tighter or compact the fabric is.
