    Abstract:

    Purpose – The purpose of this article is to explore SME capacity to absorb and manage Knowledge as a prior condition to the successful adoption of innovations and entrepreneurial growth.Design/methodology/approach – Drawing on the findings from more than 1,500 SME owners across regular quarterly SERTeam surveys and from other large scale studies, this article examines the effects of experiential and Formal Knowledge on the development of SME absorptive capacity.Findings – There were significant age, educational and size effects that influence SME acquisition and assimilation of Knowledge. Primarily, it is the small firms of 15+ employees that have the capacity to absorb and use new Knowledge – especially those with higher educational levels and clear growth objectives.     This article describes a collaboratively engineered general-purpose Knowledge management (KM) ontology that can be used by practitioners, researchers, and educators. The ontology is Formally characterized in terms of nearly one hundred definitions and axioms that evolved from a Delphi-like process involving a diverse panel of over 30 KM practitioners and researchers. The ontology identifies and relates Knowledge manipulation activities that an entity (e.g., an organization) can perform to operate on Knowledge resources. It introduces a taxonomy for these resources, which indicates classes of Knowledge that may be stored, embedded, and/or represented in an entity. It recognizes factors that influence the conduct of KM both within and across KM episodes. The Delphi panelists judge the ontology favorably overall: its ability to unify KM concepts, its comprehensiveness, and utility. Moreover, various implications of the ontology for the KM field are examined as indicators of its utility for practitioners, educators, and researchers.

    Abstract:

    In the modern era everyone using web for analysis and analytics of large amount of data. In addition, most of the web pages did not contain semantic information until recently, raising difficulties for mechanical research. As a way to remedy these poor online characteristics, the Semantic Web has arisen. In this report, with the aid of Twitter data mining, we aimed to build up a business Knowledge domain to provide useful information for small business owners for their marketing campaigns or dynamic QA systems for their business recommendation services. According to the Semantic Web principle, the Knowledge base was constructed. First, web crawling from various web sources, including social media, is required to build the information domain. The crawled data, however, is usually accessible inFormally and has no semantic Knowledge. In order to capture useful information from them and generate Formal Knowledge for the Knowledge domain, we developed text mining techniques. Sentimental analysis based on Stanford NLP also runs with this framework for accuracy.

    Abstract:

    Background: The focused ultrasound examination has become increasingly recognized as a safe and valuable diagnostic tool for the bedside assessment of the critically ill patient. We implemented a dedicated on-site critical care ultrasonography curriculum with the goal of developing a model for teaching ultrasound skills to pulmonary and critical care medicine fellows.Methods: The program was comprised of blended didactic and bedside sessions in the following topic domains: fundamentals; vascular access and diagnosis; and abdominal, thoracic, and cardiac ultrasonography. Formal Knowledge and image acquisition assessments were performed before and after the program to assess success in meeting predefined learning objectives.
