noncircular bevel gear transmission with intersecting axes
Journal of Mechanical Design, 2008Co-Authors: Jiqiang Xia, Yuanyuan Liu, Chunming Geng, Jiangbin SongAbstract:Noncircular bevel gear can achieve variable transmission between intersecting axes. Based on polar coordinates, a design method for noncircular bevel gears is presented. The Geometric Characteristic of tooth profiles of the gears can be obtained by means of geometry principles for spherical engagement and a pair of conjugated crown racks, which can engage with the driver noncircular bevel gear and driven one, respectively. A series of new conception such as tangent azimuth angle, concavity of conical surfaces, and module angle are proposed to describe spherical geometry relationship in meshing. Meanwhile, Geometrical characters of the crown rack cutter are derived. Based on this cutter, the accurate mathematical model of noncircular bevel gear tooth profile is deduced, and the determinant criterion for undercutting is presented. As an example, the three-dimensional models of noncircular bevel gear pair are established to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method. A noncircular bevel gear set can be designed by this method if the special included angle for intersecting axes and transmission function ratio are given.

an envelope shaping method for huge straight bevel gear
SN Applied Sciences, 2020Co-Authors: Peng WangAbstract:An envelope shaping method of machining huge straight bevel gear is proposed in this paper. This method can achieve higher machining precision and efficiency. Firstly, the Geometric Characteristic of the tooth surface is analyzed. Then an envelope shaping principle is given. Based on this principle, the mathematical model of machine motion is built. In order to evaluate the machining precision, the enveloping error is derived. Calculation example shows that the enveloping precision can be controlled by adjusting enveloping times. On the whole, this paper lays a theoretical foundation for the machining technology of huge straight bevel gear.

a novel economical method of determining the Geometric Characteristic of the metal foam based on image analysis
Energies, 2020Co-Authors: Martin Beer, Marcela Tausova, Radim Rybar, Michal KaľavskýAbstract:The presented paper deals with the metal foams, which have a wide application potential ranging from power engineering, through catalysts to impact energy absorbers. The main aim of the paper is to propose an economical non-destructive method of determining the basic Characteristics and dimensions using affordable devices. The basic principle of the proposed method lies in the image capture of metal foam and their subsequent analysis in image analysis software. An important element of the work is a comparison of results obtained by the proposed method with results obtained by high-resolution X-ray microtomography. The proposed method was evaluated in terms of measurement uncertainty and propagation of error in overall results. The use of the method is limited to the metal foams, characterized by an ordered structure, which are produced mainly by the electrophoretic deposition process. Based on the descriptive statistical analysis of results, it is possible to state, that the proposed method is in great agreement with accurate, but more expensive high-resolution X-ray microtomography.

wheelset rail Geometric Characteristics and contact forces assessment with regard to wheelset rolling
MATEC Web of Conferences, 2019Co-Authors: Juraj Gerlici, Tomáš LackAbstract:Abstract. The Geometric relation between a wheelset and a rail is assessed with the help of Geometric Characteristics. Geometric Characteristics are: equivalent conicity function, delta r function placement of contact points of a wheelset and a rail, tangent gamma function and effective conicity. It turned out that these Characteristics are at present the most important not only for the judgment of ride Characteristics of a vehicle on the rail but also for the wearing of wheel treads and rail heads, e. i., for the assessment of the track and vehicles in order to find out the current state and for the assessment of changes of the wheels and rails profile shapes in order to improve the current state too. The process of Geometric Characteristic assessment of a wheelset and rail with regard to wheelset rolling, as well as contact forces are analysed in the article. Keywords: Geometric Characteristics, wheel and rail contact, contact forces, wheelset rolling, Geometric Characteristics values comparison
