  • integrating pipeline data management application and Google Maps dataset on web based gis application using open source technology sharp map and open layers
    2010 8th International Pipeline Conference Volume 3, 2010
Co-Authors: Arie Wisianto, Hidayatus Saniya, Oki Gumilar
    Abstract:

Development of web based GIS application often requires high cost on base map datasets and software licenses. Web based GIS Pipeline Data Management Application can be developed using the benefit of Google Maps datasets combined with available local spatial datasets resulting comprehensive spatial information. Sharp Map is an easy-to-use mapping library for use in web and desktop applications. It provides access and enables spatial querying to many types of GIS data. The engine is written in C# and based on the .Net 2.0 frameworks and provides advantages for integration with Pipeline Data Model such as PODS using .NET technology. Sharp Map enables development of WMS and web services for serving pipeline data management information on internet/intranet web based application. Open Layers is use to integrate pipelines data model and Google Maps dataset on single map display with user friendly and dynamic user interfaces. The use of Sharp Map and Open Layers creating powerful Pipeline Data Management web based GIS application by combining specific information from pipelines data model and comprehensive Google Maps satellites datasets without publishing private information from local datasets. The combination on Sharp Map, Open Layers, Google Maps datasets, and .NET technology resulting a low cost and powerful Pipeline Data Management web based GIS solution. • self organizing map methodology and Google Maps services for geographical epidemiology mapping
Digital Image Computing: Techniques and Applications, 2009
Co-Authors: Jingyuan Zhang, Hao Shi, Yanchun Zhang
    Abstract:

The Health Geographical Information System (GIS) has been used in many organizations for the management and visualization of public health data. As epidemiology information has become a part of health data repository in the health data management system, many health researchers have dedicated their research areas to geographical epidemiology information analysis and visualization. The Population Health Epidemiology Unit of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Tasmania uses the web-based epidemiology system (‘WebEpi’) to conduct monitoring and surveillance of the health of Tasmanian population. In this paper, the epidemiology data Self-Organizing Map (SOM) analysis methodology and Google Maps services techniques of WebEpi are presented. SOM has been used as a tool to recognize patterns with data sets measuring epidemiology data and related geographical information. Google Maps services offer Web GIS Application Programming Interface (API) and GIS views. The integration of SOM and Google Maps facilitates the epidemiology data pattern recognition and geo-visualization which enables health research to be conducted in a novel and effective way.

  • release of spatial information based on Google Maps api
    Journal of Computer Applications, 2011
    Co-Authors: F U Zhongliang
    Abstract:

Traditional online mapping service has certain deficiency, which only supports customers to browse and query. In order to achieve the target that client could independently input data, and the server automatically receives spatial information and releases online map,a new method for the construction of spatial information distribution system was proposed is this paper.Based on B/S architecture, this method could get the geographical coordinates automatically by improving the Google Maps API event listener;meanwhile,a self-defined XML file was used to read this kind of record on the server. Then the address resolution functions were used to analyze this kind of XML file and draw the markers on the Google map according to the locations.Through this process the goal of publishing the local data to the Web map was achieved.Based on this method Wuhan University campus navigation system has been developed successfully, which demonstrates the feasibility of this solution.
