Search for two Higgs Bosons in final states containing two photons and two bottom quarks in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV

GanjourAbstract:A search is presented for the production of two Higgs Bosons in final states containing two photons and two bottom quarks. Both resonant and nonresonant hypotheses are investigated. The analyzed data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns of proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV collected with the CMS detector. Good agreement is observed between data and predictions of the standard model (SM). Upper limits are set at 95% confidence level on the production cross section of new particles and compared to the prediction for the existence of a warped extra dimension. When the decay to two Higgs Bosons is kinematically allowed, assuming a mass scale LambdaR = 1 TeV for the model, the data exclude a radion scalar at masses below 980 GeV. The first Kaluza-Klein excitation mode of the graviton in Randall-Sundrum models is excluded for masses between 325 and 450 GeV. Limits set on nonresonant production constrain the parameter space for anomalous Higgs boson couplings.

The analysis uses data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 5.1 and 19.3 fb$^{-1}$, respectively. The search is sensitive to Higgs Bosons produced through the gluon fusion process and in association with a bb quark pair. No statistically significant excess is observed in the $\mu^{+} \mu^{-}$ mass spectrum. Results are interpreted in the framework of several benchmark scenarios, and the data are used to set an upper limit on the MSSM parameter $ \tan{ \beta} $ as a function of the mass of the pseudoscalar A boson in the range from 115 to 300 GeV. Model independent upper limits are given for the product of the cross section and branching fraction for gluon fusion and b quark associated production. They are the most stringent limits obtained to date in this channel.

Search for vector-like T quarks decaying to top quarks and Higgs Bosons in the all-hadronic channel using jet substructure

GanjourAbstract:A search is performed for a vector-like heavy T quark that is produced in pairs and that decays to a top quark and a Higgs boson. The data analysed correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns collected with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV. For T quarks with large mass values the top quarks and Higgs Bosons can have significant Lorentz boosts, so that their individual decay products often overlap and merge. Methods are applied to resolve the substructure of such merged jets. Upper limits on the production cross section of a T quark with mass between 500 and 1000 GeV are derived. If the T quark decays exclusively to tH, the observed (expected) lower limit on the mass of the T quark is 745 (773) GeV at 95% confidence level. For the first time an algorithm is used for tagging boosted Higgs Bosons that is based on a combination of jet substructure information and b tagging.

GanjourAbstract:A search for neutral Higgs Bosons in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM) decaying to tau-lepton pairs in pp collisions is performed, using events recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 24.6 inverse femtobarns, with 4.9 inverse femtobarns at 7 TeV and 19.7 inverse femtobarns at 8 TeV. To enhance the sensitivity to neutral MSSM Higgs Bosons, the search includes the case where the Higgs boson is produced in association with a b-quark jet. No excess is observed in the tau-lepton-pair invariant mass spectrum. Exclusion limits are presented in the MSSM parameter space for different benchmark scenarios, m[h,max}, m[h,mod+], m[h,mod-], light-stop, light-stau, tau-phobic, and low-m[H]. Upper limits on the cross section times branching fraction for gluon fusion and b-quark associated Higgs boson production are also given.

Search for Higgs Bosons decaying to tautau pairs in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV

The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb-1, were collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We set upper limits at the 95% C.L. on the production cross section multiplied by the branching ratio for a scalar resonance decaying into tautau pairs, and we then interpret these limits as limits on the production of Higgs Bosons in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) and as constraints in the MSSM parameter space.

Search for Higgs Bosons of the minimal supersymmetric standard model in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV

GrisAbstract:We report results from searches for neutral Higgs Bosons produced in p-pbar collisions recorded by the Dzero experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We study the production of inclusive neutral Higgs boson in the tautau final state and in association with a b quark in the btautau and bbb final states. These results are combined to improve the sensitivity to the production of neutral Higgs Bosons in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). The data are found to be consistent with expectation from background processes. Upper limits on MSSM Higgs boson production are set for Higgs boson masses ranging from 90 to 300 GeV. We exclude tanBeta>20-30 for Higgs boson masses below 180 GeV. These are the most stringent constraints on MSSM Higgs boson production in p-pbar collisions.

We consider different scenarios of possible charged Higgs boson decays, one where the charged Higgs boson decays purely hadronically into a charm and a strange quark, another where it decays into a $\tau$ lepton and a $\tau$ neutrino and a third one where both decays appear. We extract limits on the branching ratio $B(t\to H^+ b)$ for all these models. We use two methods, one where the $t\bar{t}$ production cross section is fixed, and one where the cross section is fitted simultaneously with $B(t\to H^+b)$. Based on the extracted limits, we exclude regions in the charged Higgs boson mass and $\tan \beta$ parameter space for different scenarios of the minimal supersymmetric standard model.

Hence we exclude branching ratios B(t -> H(+)b) > 0.24 for m(H+) 80 GeV and B(t -> H(+)b) > 0.19 for m(H+) = 155 GeV at the 95% C.L.

The cross section for this process is enhanced in many extensions of the Standard Model (SM), such as its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) at large tan(beta). The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 328 pb-1, were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. An upper limit is set on the production cross section of neutral Higgs Bosons in the mass range of 90 to 150 GeV, and this limit is used to exclude part of the MSSM parameter space.

Detection of MSSM Higgs Bosons from SUSY Particle Cascade Decays at the LHC

MourtgatAbstract:In the context of the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model, we study the production of Higgs Bosons at the Large Hadron Collider via cascade decays of scalar quarks and gluinos. We focus on the cascades involving heavier charginos and neutralinos, which decay into the neutral $h,A,H$ and charged $H^\pm$ Bosons and lighter charginos and neutralinos, but we will also discuss direct decays of third--generation squarks into their lighter partners and Higgs Bosons as well as top quark decays into $H^\pm$ Bosons. We show that the production rates of relatively light Higgs Bosons, $M_\Phi \lsim 250$ GeV, via these mechanisms can be rather large in some areas of the parameter space. Performing a fast detector simulation analysis that takes into account the signals and the various backgrounds, we show that the detection of the neutral Higgs Bosons through their decays into $b\bar{b}$ pairs, and of the charged Higgs particles through the $\tau^\pm \nu$ signature, is possible at the LHC.

Detection of the Light Neutral MSSM Higgs Bosons in the Intense Coupling Regime at the LHC

NikitenkoAbstract:We analyse the prospects to detect at the LHC the neutral Higgs particles of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, when the masses of the two CP-even $h,H$ and of the CP-odd $A$ boson are close to one another, and the value of $\tb$ is large. In this "intense-coupling regime", the Higgs Bosons have strongly enhanced couplings to isospin down-type fermions and large total decay widths, so that the $\gamma \gamma, WW^*$ and $ZZ^*$ decay modes of the three Higgs Bosons are strongly suppressed. We advocate the use of the decays into muon pairs, $h,H,A \to \mu^+ \mu^-$, to resolve the three Higgs boson peaks: although the branching ratios are small, ${\cal O}(10^{4})$, the resolution on muons is good enough to allow for their detection, if the mass splitting is large enough. Using an event generator analysis and a fast detector simulation, we show that only the process $pp \to b\bar{b} \mu^+ \mu^-$, when at least one of the $b$-quarks is detected, is viable.

The samples used for this search were collected in 2012 and correspond to integrated luminosities in the range 19.5-20.3 fb−1. The MSSM Higgs Bosons are searched for in the τ τ final state. No significant excess over the expected background is observed, and exclusion limits are derived for the production cross section times branching fraction of a scalar particle as a function of its mass. The results are also interpreted in the MSSM parameter space for various benchmark scenarios.

Hence we exclude branching ratios B(t -> H(+)b) > 0.24 for m(H+) 80 GeV and B(t -> H(+)b) > 0.19 for m(H+) = 155 GeV at the 95% C.L.

Search for neutral Higgs Bosons at high tan(beta) in the b(h/H/A)->btautau channel

AlkhazovAbstract:The first search in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 GeV for the production of neutral Higgs Bosons in association with bottom quarks and decaying in two tau leptons is presented. The cross section for this process is enhanced in many extensions of the Standard Model (SM), such as its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) at large tan(beta). The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 328 pb-1, were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. An upper limit is set on the production cross section of neutral Higgs Bosons in the mass range of 90 to 150 GeV, and this limit is used to exclude part of the MSSM parameter space.
