control design and implementation for high performance shunt active filters in aircraft power grids
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2012Co-Authors: Junyi Liu, Pericle Zanchetta, Michele Degano, E LavopaAbstract:This paper presents the design and implementation of a Shunt Active Filter (SAF) for aircraft power networks using an accurate wide-band current control method based on Iterative Learning Control (ILC). The SAF control system is designed to compensate harmonic currents, with a 400 Hz Supply voltage. This work introduces useful design strategies to increase the error-decay speed and improve the robustness of the SAF control system by using a hybrid P-type ILC controller. Detailed design of the hybrid P-type ILC controller and simulation results are presented. The overall system implementation is demonstrated through experimental results on a laboratory prototype.

a high performance harmonic current control for shunt active filters based on resonant compensators
Conference of the Industrial Electronics Society, 2006Co-Authors: Wanchak Lenwari, Pericle Zanchetta, Mark Sumner, M CuleaAbstract:This paper proposes a very accurate harmonic current control for Shunt Active Filters (SAF) using resonant compensators. The Resonant control compensator based on sinusoidal internal model principle is introduced into the control system design in order to improve the control accuracy and performance for ac input signal. The proposed current control system is designed to operate with a single dq reference frame, synchronous with the 50 Hz Supply voltage, for the compensation of all main harmonic currents, 5th, 7th, 11th and 13th. The principle of the proposed control method and the design procedure is presented. Experimental results confirm the accuracy and effectiveness of the suggested approach. Excellent harmonic current tracking performance can be achieved. Another major advantage of this strategy is the ability to eliminate the effect of an ac external disturbance from the harmonic components caused by the power Supply.

direct measurement of power quality over railway networks with results of a 16 7 Hz network
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2011Co-Authors: A MariscottiAbstract:The measurement and monitoring of power quality on electric railway networks is a complex problem with several practical constraints. A digital measurement system was designed and implemented to perform the required task on board different locomotives across several European Union countries. Ease of installation and operation, and robustness are the main requirements. The example of the Swiss alternating-current 16.7-Hz Supply network is used to derive information on the pantograph voltage spectrum and its statistical properties and on the visualization and postprocessing methods.

measurement of the internal impedance of traction rails at audiofrequency
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2004Co-Authors: A Mariscotti, P PozzobonAbstract:The electrical behavior of sample steel traction rails is analyzed considering the resistance and the internal inductance. Measurements are performed on a sample rail with circulation of audiofrequency current superimposed on a 50-Hz Supply current.
