Clinical Comparative Study of External-route Surgery for Retinal Detachment Under Microscope and Indirect Ophthalmoscope
Guangxi Medical Journal, 2012Co-Authors: Liu ShuiAbstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of external-route surgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment under microscope and Indirect Ophthalmoscope.Methods Forty patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment were randomly divided into two groups,who received the external-route surgery under microscope(micro-group) and Indirect Ophthalmoscope(classic group) respectively.The intraoperative and postoperative complications,retinal reattachment,visual acuity,condensation reaction and operation time were observed.Results No statistical difference was found in the surgical complication,visual acuity,retinal reattachment rate and condensation reaction between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion There is no significant difference in the postoperative complications between microscope and Indirect Ophthalmoscope used in the external-route surgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.External-route microsurgery for retinal detachment is easy to learn and effective.

Wide-field digital retinal imaging is a recent technique that should be evaluated for minimizing infant pain and stress.

Indirect Ophthalmoscope Perimetry in Patients With Retinal Detachment or Retinoschisis

HoldrenAbstract:Purpose/Methods We evaluated visual field testing, using Indirect ophthalmoscopy, in patients with retinal detachment or retinoschisis. While performing ophthalmoscopy, we projected a shadow onto the schisis or detachment by holding a scleral depressor on the observer's side of the condensing lens. A response was recorded as positive if the patient saw the shadow. Results/Conclusion In all 20 detachment eyes, compared to zero of 12 schisis eyes, the response was positive. Indirect Ophthalmoscope perimetry can help distinguish retinoschisis from retinal detachment.
