    Taking the actual project of teaching and researching process for example,the relationship between the Industrial Engineering and product development is discussed.And use the novel visualization technology to support the Industrial Engineering and product development.How to use the new computer modeling and simulating technologies to support the product development and Industrial Engineering,is introduced especially.The support includes both domestic products and Industrial systems.The visualization and computer technologies take a very" important role in some system or multi-direction modeling,those technologies mentioned above can help the Industrial engineers study the effect of design on the whole life circle,including the producing steps.So the engineers can avoid making the wrong decision which may cause bad effects on the whole Industrial Engineering.

    Abstract The history of Production and Industrial Engineering embraces a broad period in the evolution of Engineering and technology. This paper presents the history of Production and Industrial Engineering through the contributions of the stalwarts. Production and Industrial Engineering played an important role in the technological advancement and economic growth of the society over the ages. Although evolution of Production and Industrial Engineering was a slow process spanning over years, it accelerated from the pre-Industrial Revolution era in England starting from 1730s. Mechanization of production processes during Industrial Revolution is a landmark event for its growth. The formal beginning of Production and Industrial Engineering may be associated with the pioneering work of F.W. Taylor. In the 20th century, the focus was on the optimization of resources. With the advent of Industry 4.0 in the 21st century, Industrial Engineering is making the best use of digitization and automation.

    Production and Industrial Engineering are the offspring of mechanical Engineering and started with factory system. The pioneers of these disciplines are Adam Smith, Eli Whitney, H.R. Towne, Henry Ford and Frederick Winslow Taylor. Taylor is often called the father of scientific management. After World War II lot of developments took place in the areas of operations research, quality and productivity. A lot of techniques were invented for enhancing the quality of products and services starting from quality guru Deming to Taguchi. Concepts of lean and agile manufacturing have given boost to productivity. Nowadays, there is increasing emphasis on the automation and use of information technology. Education and practice of production and Industrial Engineering is adapting to the rapid changes in technologies.
